From the same seller who brought to surface the prototypes from last week, a few prototypes recently showed up on eBay: several urethane prototype of the Coelophysis' limbs (from the first Jurassic Park series), and a primed sample of a Jaws Jackson figure. They respectively sold for $53.77 and $102.50, which shows that such items don't go for much these days. However, I can understand people not getting crazy about a handful of limbs, even if they're a nice example of what happened during the production of these toys... Thanks goes to forum regular Raptorbite for the heads up! And in other news, we have a new collection to show. Guillaume, from France, was kind enough to send us pictures of his wonderful collection, so feel free to take a look at it on the collections section.

Well, it didn't take long! As forum member Diurnal noticed, and after only 10 days, the Exclusive Edition of the Rex versus Raptors statue is already sold out! I hope you all had the opportunity to pre-order one. But if you didn't, don't worry, you can always add yourself to the Wait List, and still have a chance to get one if someone else cancels his order. Or you can settle with the regular edition which costs the same price, but doesn't include the neat "When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth" banner... Also, Sideshow revealed how many Exclusive Edition statues will be produced: 400 pieces. As you can see, it's quite a limited edition, as they probably wanted to test the waters before unleashing a full-scale line of statues. No word about how big the production number of the regular will be, though...
Also, don't forget to check out below your statue when you'll receive it. Since each piece is numbered, think of how cool it would be to own the 1st or the 400th statue!
Wow, talk about a great way to kick off this new month! After last month's news about Mr. Bradley's interview by a Transformers fan website, we tried to contact him to see if he would agree to be interviewed by JPToys. And with a big help of forum members Musichead and Jack De La Mare, a contact has been made, and an interview could be planned. You can read it all here: interview with Tim Bradley.
Mr. Bradley was kind enough to give us a great insight of the production of the Jurassic Park toy line, especially of the Chaos Effect series. It is truly a great pleasure and honor for us to have been able to get in touch with someone so passionate about he does, and still accessible enough to agree to be interviewed by us fans. Thank you, Mr. Bradley!
UPDATE! Mr. Bradley was kind enough to take pictures of the Ultimasaurus and the Velocirapteryx maquette he mentioned in the interview! The pictures have been added on the interview page. Enjoy!
You can now access Tim Bradley's website through the button on the Affiliates section (on your left). Make sure to check it out!

So, are you getting used to the new site yet, guys? I know that it'll take some time, but hey, it's still better than the April Fools design we had up on April 1st.
So, nothing earth-breaking for today, apart from a new review by Dilophoraptor for the Lost World Remote Control T-Rex. Make sure to take a look at it!
We also have a new poll for your voting pleasure. Feel free to let us know your impressions on the design!
So, as people lurking around the forums have noticed, two prototypes have recently been unearthed, and luckily for us, the owner (a well-known collector nicknamed Ajaythehunter) was kind enough to take a bunch of pictures for us to drool over. All these pictures have been added to the The Lost World Triceratops and the Chaos Effect Ultimasaurus individual pages. Feel free to take a look at these gems, and again, a big thanks to Ajaythehunter for his kindness!
Well, well, well, pictures of unreleased toys are raining, these days! Today, we are proud to present you several pictures of the unreleased Scutosaurus from the Jurassic Park Series 2 line, which were taken by forum member AlphaBrachio. He was kind enough to take big, pristine clear pics of his gem and send them our way for all the community to enjoy. A big thanks goes to him!
In other news, we are proud to welcome a new affiliate: Jack De La Mare's Jurassic Park 4 website! As usual, you can access it by clicking on the little icon on the right. So, make sure to make a little stop on this neat-looking new site!
Well, after last week's sad news, we have something much less depressing to pass along today: the first loose shots of the new Papo Allosaurus!
Thanks to forum member Freewee who was lucky enough to get one through the german seller Kinderlanddreieich and was kind enough to take pictures for us to enjoy, we can present you yet another JPToys exclusive. Feel free to take a look at the Papo Allosaurus page to take a closer look at this neat piece. Even though it's a bit less stellar than the prototype showed months ago, this collectible is as solid as we can expect for a Papo product, and will surely look great next to its fellow "Paposaurus"!
Hello there! I hope your summer was okay, and that you can't wait to return to school/work/whatever your occupation may be. Nothing earth-shattering for today's news, but interesting stuff from our fandom.
We have had two new fan submissions recently: several dioramas from Dino Fool, which can be seen in her new gallery, as well as a lot (as in A LOT) of collection pictures from forum member Teddybier, who decided to take pics of each item he owns for our viewing pleasure. Feel free to check out his gallery, and have a detailed look at each of his 73 figures!
Quite a big news for today's update. For the first (well, second, actually) time ever, the elusive Ornithosuchus with Dino Trapper has appeared on eBay! This set was known since this series' release in 2000, being mentioned on some boxes, but so far, we had no idea what it looked like. But now that we have a picture of this set, and especially of the, might we say, "flamboyant" Dino Trapper, the reason why it wasn't released becomes quite obvious...
A big thanks goes to Lostworld4ever, Nix and Sjappie for telling us about the appearance on eBay of this gem. Make sure to take a look at this set's page to see more pictures and info about this toy!

So, after our latest ground-breaking news about the Ornithosuchus with Dino Trapper, how about some reading? Regular contributor Roselaar has written a huge lot of reviews, including the four last ones of the Chaos Effect line, and reviews for each toy in the first Jurassic Park line. Be sure to take a look at them!
Also from Roselaar, we have several pictures of European variations of human figures (by the way, notice how European Skinners and Dr. Snares were part of the "Dino-Raiders" instead of "Evil Raiders"), as well as supposedly US-only dinos like the Carnotaurus. Definitely worth a look. And did you know that some Alan Grant figures from the JP3 line wore two pants? Well, the factory error pictures sent by forum member 0thebigwytec5 proves it!
And finally, for those wanting to know more about the Ornithosuchus with Dino Trapper proto that showed up recently, stay tuned. More news about this gem coming soon.

We're happy to present you a new Ultimasaurus prototype that was recently unearthed by forum member Barbara22, from France. Simply by contacting Hasbro France, she had, with some patience, the opportunity to get in touch with someone from the US who had worked on the Chaos Effect line. And luckily for her, that person still had an Ultimasaurus prototype and was ready to sell it. And that's how Barbara22 could get her hand on this gem, and was kind enough to share great quality pictures of her find.
Two new close-ups (front view and back view) have been added on the Ultimasaurus page, as well as a bigger version of the picture seen below. Enjoy!
*UPDATE*: We've been told that these pictures aren't from an Ultimasaurus owned by forum member Barbara, but in fact were taken by toy designer Tim Bradley, who worked on the Chaos Effect line, and was kind enough to be interviewed by JPToys a few months ago. So, to give credits back to where it's due, thanks a lot for these pictures, Mr. Bradley!

Now, here's a great way to kick off Autumn 2008! JPToys was lucky enough to have the opportunity to acquire one sample of the gem that was discovered three weeks ago, and is now proud to present you several close-up shots from the Ornithosuchus with Dinosaur Trapper. Feel free to take a look at these high-definition pictures!
Also, we have two new galleries in the Fan's Corner to present you. First, a new collection gallery from Justin, with loads of rare, mint-in-box toys. And also up for your viewing pleasure, a custom gallery from long-time forum member Angelrex, which includes customs inspired by unproduced toys, hatchlings and juveniles inspired by well-known JP toys like Bull or Thrasher T-Rexes, and pure creations. Enjoy!

Hello there! Long time without any news, huh? But don't worry: today's update is going to make up for that.
Two test-shots from the canceled Night Hunter Series recently showed up on eBay: one from the Spinosaurus with Carr set, and the other from the Baryonyx with Ludlow playset. Only the two dinosaurs were for sale, without the human figure or any accessory. Still, they managed to fetch rather high prices ($570 for the Spino and $650 for the Bary), but weren't sold to the highest bidder, due to what looked like a huge reserve price (our sources mentioned a ridiculously overrated price of $4,500 each...). So, even though no one had the opportunity to buy these gems, we still have high quality pictures of both of them up for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!
In other news, Sideshow Collectibles finally posted boxed pictures of their first Jurassic Park diorama: the T-Rex Versus Velociraptors scene. They also revealed pictures of what appears to be the production version of this diorama, which shows a slightly less stellar paint job (which could be expected), and which also shows what the "When Dinosaurs Ruled The World" banner from the exclusive edition will look like. Little reminder: this set is due to start shipping by the end of October 2008, so this shouldn't take too long, now...
Another news from Sideshow is the announcement of their new line: Dinosauria. Nothing is known about this line, apart from the fact that it should include several pieces with a $200-$350 price tag for each (yikes!). The reveal of such a series is rather puzzling, considering they also own the Jurassic Park license which consists of, well, one piece so far. So, will this new line be the nail in the Jurassic Park Sideshow coffin? As always, time will tell...
So, stay tuned for more. We should soon have several new collection and diorama galleries up, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!

Well, Sideshow Collectibles won't stop surprising us, apparently. Too bad it's a rather bitter surprise here. This company, which recently revealed the first item in its Dinosauria line, didn't seem to be JP-inclined anymore, but still, they revealed a "new" statue based on the Jurassic Park franchise: the T-Rex Versus Velociraptors : Faux Bronze edition, a simple repaint of the T-Rex Versus Velociraptors statue recently released...
Yes, a repaint. This dreaded habit we hoped we'd never see again... And to add to the disappointment, this "Faux-bronze" edition is $299.99, which is $50 more than the painted edition. Yes, less paint, but more expensive. But here's the catch: this edition is limited to 50 pieces worldwide, which makes it the rarest released Jurassic Park piece of merchandising ever (well, as far as I remember). Is it worth the extra price? Apparently, it was for 50 people...
So, feel free to take a look at this new statue's page, and to comment about it in our forums!
Well, we're now in June, and still no sight of the new Dino Battlers line. Another unreleased line? Not really. Forum member Dutchallosaur contacted several TRU's in Europe, and she got some interesting information:
I called tons of TRU's in all of Europe and the US too, and tons of Hasbro's in Europa and the one in the US.
What did I find out: there are at least a dozen of new figures to be released. So not 4, at LEAST a dozen. When will they be released? The SECOND WEEK OF AUGUST. Strange enough NO Hasbro's in Europe have them in their database, but the American one has (unfortunately no pictures, I asked them). As of TRU's, as far as I know they will be released in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and obviously the US.
And best of all: the German women said she saw an Electronic T-Rex in her database with figureS. We haven't seen that before have we? That might explain the price! Stay tuned, I’ll call the French TRU back in a minute for more info.
And after contacting the French TRU manager, she got a juicy bit of information: the name of some of the dinosaurs featured in the line!
Ok, I have some more information. According to the manager, the following products are to be released:
*Triceratops
*Spinosaurus
*Electronic Dilophosaurus
*T-Rex
He didn't see the large T-Rex in his database yet, but he told me they rarely have anything in their database more than a month before release. He also saw a loose action figure called Patron PT (wtf?). It is possible I didn't write that one down correctly, he talked French with a REALLY big accent, it was very hard for me to understand him. I had him spell that name 4 times for me, so I think I come very close to the real name now. -=EDIT=- Neelis stated that the Patron figure might be a Pteranodon. Because the French guy had a hard time pronouncing it, there's a good chance Neelis is right.
Price range was from $7 - $17, which was not put in Euro's yet.
Unfortunately, he had no pictures in his database, so I couldn't obtain any. I also tried to had him describe some figures, but as he had no pics, he couldn't.
Judging from the figures, I can say for certain it will be a JPIII repaint series again. Note: these are not all the figures, only the ones in his database. So there are more to be released anyway. Only, he couldn't tell me how many.
So, a huge thanks goes to Dutchallosaur for taking so much of her time to give us all these news!
As you know, the new Jurassic Park toyline has been delayed, and will only be released in August. So, what's the best way to kill time? To drool over new pictures! The good folks over at Actionfigs.com got their hands over several pictures of the four Dino Battlers packs, and two of the new Dino Trackers human/dinosaur set, and were kind enough to let us know about them. Make sure to take a look at their website to see these new sets in all their high-definition glory!
By the way, this brings an interesting point. Considering the "Dino Battlers" name is only used for the small two-packs, and not for the whole toy line, how could we name it? For the time being, we'll settle for Jurassic Park 2K9, but feel free to share any idea you might have on the forums. Also, the set we saw a picture of a month ago, the T-Rex/Trike one, seems to have been slightly repainted (yup, both sets share the same assortment number, so unless it's a variation...). For the better or worse, you decide!
Wow, we only have the time to post the news about these new JP2K9 pictures that the folks over at Actionfigs.com added several new ones on their website! So, we now know what the two other Dino Trackers sets look like, and also can lay our eyes upon the new electronic JP3 repaints: the Battle Growlers! So, make sure to take a look at Actionfigs.com to have a full-quality look at these brand new zany JP toys!

Hey folks! A lot of news today! First, that's it, Hasbro finally announced the release of the new JP2K9 line! Well, they've been out for a while now, but still, it's good to know they advertise this line a bit. And to see that they are aware of the Jurassic Park fan base. Read on:
PAWTUCKET, R.I., August 25, 2009 -- Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE:HAS) has announced plans to unleash the legendary dinosaurs from Universal Pictures’ Jurassic Park, one of the most powerful franchises in motion picture history. This fall, under a licensing agreement with Universal Partnerships & Licensing, Hasbro plans to launch a new action figure line based on the film’s prehistoric predators exclusively at Toys“R”Us stores across the country.
“Jurassic Park is one of the most successful film franchises of all time and has a passionate fan base,” said Derryl DePriest, Vice President of Marketing at Hasbro. “Dinosaurs are also tremendously popular with kids, and Jurassic Park is the mark of authenticity when it comes to realistic and exciting dinosaur play.”
“Since the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park first stomped onto movie screens more than 15 years ago, they’ve captured kids’ imaginations,” said Karen Dodge, Senior Vice President, Chief Merchandising Officer, Toys“R”Us. “There is no better place to find toys based on kids’ favorite characters than Toys“R”Us, and we’re excited to be the only retailer to offer kids and collectors official Jurassic Park action figures.”
“Jurassic Park remains the quintessential dinosaur brand,” said Stephanie Sperber, Executive Vice President, Universal Partnerships & Licensing. “The movies still rank as one of the top five trilogies of all time, and with Hasbro and Toys“R”Us behind the line, we know there will be great demand for the product. We truly have a winning combination on our hands.”
Hasbro’s Jurassic Park product line will be available exclusively at Toys“R”Us stores beginning this fall, featuring authentic dinosaur action figures in various sizes, such as:
Jurassic Park Basic Dinosaur Two-Pack Assortment
Now, kids can assemble their own dino army with this collection of authentic Jurassic Park dinosaurs! With two dinosaurs in each pack, this assortment allows children to create amazing dinosaur adventures.
Ages: 4 & up; No batteries required
Jurassic Park Deluxe Dinosaur and Figure Assortment
Each deluxe two-pack in this assortment comes with a dinosaur and a “Dino Tracker” action figure that is equipped with an accessory that lets them track their prey. Now, kids can determine who will win the hunt –dinosaurs or humans.
Ages: 4 & up; No batteries required
Jurassic Park Electronic Dinosaur Assortment
The battle is coming! These fully articulated dinosaurs battle each other and have “dino-damage” to show for it. Each dinosaur lets out a fierce roar when kids activate its individual attack action. To create a more realistic battle, kids can also press the “dino-damage” to hear the dinosaur howl.
Ages: 4 & up; 3 “A76” or “LR44” Alkaline batteries required (included)
Jurassic Park Deluxe Electronic T-Rex
The king of the dinosaurs has arrived! This massive T-Rex comes to life with multiple growls, roars and howls and even a “bone crunching” sound effect for when it eats its prey. Additionally, its motion activated stomping sounds are sure to strike fear into humans and other dinosaurs alike. This giant dinosaur comes with a “Dino Tracker” action and a weapon that really fires. As an added bonus, the back of the box has an illustration that can be cut out and assembled into an off-road vehicle.
Ages: 4 & up; 3 “AAA” batteries required (included)
Speaking of the new Deluxe Electronic Rex, new pictures and details of it have surfaced recently on Actionfigs.com. It appears that the final paint job is darker than what was already showed, but still highly reminiscent of the unreleased Gulper T-Rex. But, as said in the press release, it also features stomping sounds, and as seen in the new loose picture, ball-jointed feet! Yup, that's a first for a Jurassic Park dinosaur!
Also on Actionfigs.com, loose shots of all the JP2K9 toys are been released. And pictures of the package back of most of them have been taken by forum members DemonCarnotaur, Raptorgrrl and Jack De La Mare, as well as a diorama shot of the Battle Growler Velociraptor by Angelrex53. All these pictures can be found in the new Jurassic Park 2K9 section.
And finally, JPToys staff's prayers go to the family of forum member Samuel Mc Gowan, better known as JPdude. He was a well-respected member in our forums, and a good friend who left us way too early. May he rest in peace.

That's it, the new big Tyrannosaurus Rex from the Jurassic Park 2K9 line has been released! Several forum members have reported that it has started to appear in various TRU's in the US, for the retail price of $49,99. One of them, Jpraptor, was kind enough to take a picture of the back of its box, which has now been added to the Rex's page. It is now confirmed that this gem has new sounds apart from the old Bull T-Rex ones, like a new stomping sound, as well as a redesigned torso, with new speakers and a battery compartment in place of the "belly-slit" found on the previous versions.
So, make sure to get it if you find it! Happy hunting, everyone!
Hey folks! No big news for today, but something that many collectors have long been waiting for: JPToys' price guide has finally been updated! A huge thanks goes to staff member Roselaar who spent a long time working on a up-to-date guide. This was indeed long overdue, considering the guide hadn't been updated for several years... So feel free to cruise around the site and see how much you really should be expecting to pay in order to get these little plastic wonders.
In other news, we also uploaded dozens of new pictures in the toy database, including many loose pictures (taken by fellow administrator Dutchallosaur) of items we only had packaged pics of, and variations, errors and other stuff submitted by our great forum members. Thanks to all of you, guys! You really help making JPToys the best Jurassic Park toys website on the internet.
Finally, you may have noticed we had a lot of changes in our staff recently. So, feel free to check our updated Staff page to meet JPToys' new faces!

Hey folks! Now that Jurassic World is getting closer and closer, we sure aren't going to be in any shortage of news! Here's the latest: the first pictures of boxed samples from the JW line have been made public, and here they are for you to feast your eyes upon (including a newcomer previously hidden in our last news: the Stegoceratops)!
Basher T-Rex
Basher Spinosaurus
Basher Ankylosaurus
Basher Stegoceratops
Growler "Blue"
Growler Dimorphodon
Giant "Charlie"
Giant "Delta"
Giant "Echo"
Chomping T-Rex
As you can see, this line appears to be a hit and miss so far. Items like the (long-awaited) Ankylosaurus or Stegoceratops (neat wink to Chaos Effect there, Hasbro!) look very good, while others look even worse than what we've seen in the JP3 line (I'm looking at you, Zombie Spino). Also, unconfirmed news we've received revealing that no human figures, apart from generic 2,5 inch tall no-name troopers, will be released, or the fact that the Giant (or Titan) class Raptors (see Delta and Echo above? That's them) won't sport the trademark Raptor claw on their feet, make the fanbase a bit uneasy about the direction this line is taking, but remember that we haven't seen all of this line, and after all, maybe the NY Toy Fair (starting this week-end) will have some surprises for us! In any case, we at JPToys will continue to give you the latest news in Jurassic Park/world toy collecting!
Hey folks! Today, we present you our new section, the dinosaur Repaints section! Ever wondered how many times some figures have been repainted? Want to compare the repaints to the original? Head over to our new section and see pictures of every repaint released so far. Always interesting to see how a different paintjob can change a figure. A huge "Thank you" goes to old-time forum member Stitch for taking the time to take all these pics for you to enjoy!
Also, as you may know, the last Jurassic World figures have recently been released, putting an end to this line. But what's next, you may ask? Well, nothing concrete yet, but several rumors are mentioning a 2016 line called "Jurassic World Hybrids" (no, nothing to do with the infamous JP Dinosaurs Hybrids line released many years ago). So far, nothing is known about this new line, but considering the big success of this years's line, it's no wonder Hasbro wants to continue to surf on the Jurassic World wave. We'll see if it's a good or a bad thing!
So, enjoy this new section, and stay tuned for more info as soon as we uncover it!

Raptor BLUE takes form as a fierce figure with a hidden hybrid feature. Shine Owen’s LED light-scope to reveal skin pattern on the ferocious dinosaur and let the hunt begin! Pack includes 4-inch human figure, Owen, dinosaur figure, motorcycle, and two accessories.
There you have it! For a quickly thrown together line, there's a lot to like! Even though it mainly consists of retools and repaints, you can see some ameliorations (paint jobs, for example) when compared to last year's Jurassic World series. And we finally got a human figure! That set would have been a killer when the movie was released, but we're sure it'll still fly off the shelves! So, enjoy, and stay tuned as we uncover more info and pictures!

This is it, the end of an era. For the first time since the release of the first Jurassic Park, future JP toys won't be produced by Hasbro (who absorbed Kenner in 2000) anymore, but by Mattel...
Back on Monday 18th, everyone was taken aback by an announcement by Brian Goldner, CEO of Hasbro, as reported by CNBC, as you can read here:
“We have had a many year relationship with Universal; we will no longer handle â€Jurassic Park’ because they are unable to arrive at a mutually beneficial financial arrangement on that brand.”
Even though rumors of a Raptor Squad and a classic JP line planned for 2017 were starting to hit the web, and even reports of Hasbro already starting to work on the Jurassic World 2 line, things would not go as expected. The main reason for this license loss was apparently much lower sales on the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2015 (then again, when you see the very few new figures released and the overall quality of what was on the shelves back then, it could be expected). Still, while this came off as a surprise, many fans actually rejoiced when this was announced, which can easily be understandable when you look at the lackluster treatment of the JP brand by Hasbro for many years (some would say since 2001...).
And the very next day, an official announcement was made by Chris Sinclair, Mattel's Chairman and CEO:
We are honored that NBCUniversal chose Mattel to help bring the Jurassic World brand to life, and we look forward to developing multiple new lines of innovative, engaging toys and products. Spanning three decades of sustained worldwide popularity, few entertainment properties have so successfully captured the collective imagination of millions of fans around the world, and we are delighted to be a part of this truly evergreen franchise.
Vince Klaseus, President of NBC-Universal Brand Development, also spoke about the matter:
We are looking forward to collaborating with Mattel and broadening Jurassic World products worldwide. The appetite for the franchise globally is stronger than ever with consumers wanting more. Mattel's global support, creativity and category approach to expand our franchise makes them the best choice to partner with for this brand, bringing innovation, technology and a host of new ways to play. Jurassic World is more than awe-inspiring blockbuster films, it's a brand that has been reaching consumers for more than twenty years on everything from video games, toys and apparel, to theme park attractions and live events. Our focus for the franchise is to continue to collaborate with best-in-class partners as we build and expand this iconic property into a mega-brand across our Universal platforms.
So there you have it: Mattel will inherit the JP license on July 2017, with their first products planned to hit shelves early 2018. Obviously, it's still too early to know what will happen with the current Dino Hybrid line (which currently only has three items released so far and is plagued with total lack of brand support and catastrophic distribution), and to the rumored Raptor Squad and Classic lines. Will Hasbro try to milk the license while they still own it? Time will tell... And as far as Mattel goes, while their previous offerings were hit or miss, their latest lines (Ghostbusters, DC Multiverse, ...) are mostly appreciated by toy collectors, and Mattel has an history of good relationship with fans and adult collectors (the Master of the Universe toy line comes to mind), so we think we can remain optimistic about what the future has in store for us, JP collectors. And we're sure that at least, they will realize that it's normal for a Velociraptor figure to have sickle claws...

Hey folks! Today (well, yesterday) was the day JPtoys fans have been waiting for since 1997: we finally have a new toyline worthy of what Kenner did in the Lost World line, and dare I say it, a toyline that is better than the TLW line in many aspects. Bold statement, I know, but here, take a look at this small preview of what we can expect from this line:
Yup, what you seeing is real: giant Mosasaurus, 3" 3/4 figures (including, yes, an Alan Grant figure from the first movie), dinos in scale with the human figures, new vehicles (including a RC Gyrosphere), new species and older ones that definitely needed an update (I'm looking at you, '94 Gallimimus). This alone would have been a dream line when Hasbro owned the license. So, can you believe that this picture shows a very small part of what Mattel has in store for us, including a 3 feet long Super Colossal T-Rex, big vehicles, a classic line inspired by the first movie (the Alan Grant figure seen above comes from that line), an Herrerasaurus confirmed by Universal to be designed after the Telltale game version of this animal, obscure species never seen before in the various JP lines (Suchomimus, Protoceratops, Minmi, and many more), super-articulated figures (ball-jointed arms and legs on dinos, and an Indoraptor with over 15 points of articulation? Indeed!), an awesome packaging which pays homage to the first movie line, and many more? And to think word on the street has it that Mattel had to rush this line and couldn't spend as much time in Research & Development as they would have liked (hence the huge feet several figures sadly sport), we can only wonder what the following years will bring us, if this line is a success. And we're sure it will be.
As we mentioned above, a selection of items from this new line were shown yesterday during the Universal Pictures Toy Fair preview day event, where our good friend Chris Pugh, from Jurassic Outpost, was present and managed to take hundreds of pictures (which you can see on their Facebook page). He also uploaded a very cool video, which gives you an nice overview of what was shown:
Feeling the excitement yet? We know we do! After years of having to settle with sub-par quality toys and total lack of new ones for several years, we can say that Mattel is a true blessing for our small collecting world. And it's just the beginning... To give you an idea of how much Mattel is leaps and bounds beyond Hasbro, we uploaded Hasbro's (hopefully) last line in our database: the Dino Hybrid line. It speaks for itself...
Also, NY Toy Fair is just getting started, and many more new items will be shown in the following days. Stay tuned for our next article, which will be a complete checklist of every Mattel figure, with loose and boxed pictures when available. It will give you a sense of how large this new line is. Trust us, we're all going to be so broke...
Hey folks! If you thought 2018 was already hurting your wallet too much, well, 2019 is shaping up to be no different. As you can see below, the first pictures from Mattel's line-up for next year have been revealed on 4chan, and what can be seen is rather...interesting. We can see several items from a new "Savage Strike" line, including a Dimetrodon (from the 2018 Destructasaurs line, which is still unreleased to this day), brand new Tapejara and Styracosaurus (a species long overdue) figures, as well as repacks and retools from the 2018 line.
Also revealed were two figures from a "Dual Action" line: a Stegosaurus repaint/retool with rather funky colors, and what appears to be a Therizinosaurus with a great body, and a totally inaccurate head sculpt (unless it's a Therizi/Raptor hybrid, of course).
And finally, a new big T-Rex was shown, with what appears to be a thrashing tail action feature. Hope you still have some space after the four (six if you count the Battle Damage versions) big Rexes released this year!
So, there you have it for now! Of course, these are preliminary versions of what we'll see next year (to give you an idea of how different released items can be, take a look at these Roarivores early prototypes from this year's line), so expect some changes! We will of course keep you updated as more is revealed, so stay tuned!
Hey folks! While Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is slowly seeing release around the globe, for those who didn't have the opportunity to see it yet, is there a better way to spend time than by reading the first ever book about the various Jurassic Park/World toylines and collectibles, written by Belgian collector (and personal friend) Kristof Thijs? This 96 pages book goes through the whole Kenner/Hasbro era (from 1993 to 2016), with chapters focusing on the main lines and including full-color pictures and many details about these lines we all love. A definitive must-have for every JP collector or fan around the globe, strongly recommended by yours truly.
The Jurassic Park dinosaurs were unleashed on the world in 1993. Just like the flock of Gallimimus swarming over the plains of Isla Nublar, the movie took the world by storm, making it the highest grossing movie of its time. A popular toy line by Kenner was released along with the movie, followed by many other products bearing the Jurassic Park logo and JP initials. Store shelves were filled with action figures, dinosaur models and hundreds of other products, from bedsheets to potato crisps. Between 1997 and 2015, three more Jurassic Park movies were released, each with their own distinctive toys and collectibles, each time bigger, better and with more teeth. Jurassic Park Collectibles spares no expense in taking you back in time to the early 90s for a nostalgic twenty-five year time travel through the history of collecting Jurassic Park. Hold on to your hats for a collection 65 million years in the making.
Kristof Thijs's book can be bought now on the publisher's site: Amberley Publishing, or if you're a bit patient, will be released on Amazon on 1st August. Don't miss out, and stay tuned!
Hey folks! As most of you may know, the annual San Diego Comic Con is currently taking place. And of course, Mattel has a big stand in order to promote their Jurassic World line, showing most of what has been released so far, as well as a few yet-to-be-released figures, including a new 6 inches collector series, planned to be released during Fall 2019! This new line was totally unexpected, and raises a lot of hope from fans, as well as some fears that, by splitting the line, Mattel may make the same mistake as Hasbro for their Star Wars line, and lower the overall quality of their brand, especially the 3 3/4" main line. But we need to remember that Mattel definitely isn't Hasbro (the 2018 line speaks for itself), and Mattel representatives were quickly to reassure fans by explaining that this new collector line would be rather small and that the main focus will remain on the historical 3 3/4" line. So, let's keep our hopes up, and marvel at the first three figures revealed: Owen Grady, Blue, and fan-favorite Ian Malcolm from the first JP movie:
But of course, Mattel didn't stop at this reveal, and gave us sneak-peeks at what kind of treats await us for 2019, and trust us, this line shows no sign of slowing down. We'll of course have new human figures to collect (a new Franklin Webb, pictured below, was shown, and there was even a small hint at a potential John Hammond figure), and they confirmed that we'll see 16 new dinosaur species, including a Styracosaurus (a 3D representation was shown, and you can see the figure itself in our "2019 line-up leaked" article), as well as silhouettes of two new full-sized sauropod (unlike JP3's Brachiosaurus or Chaos Effect's Amargospinus): an Action Attack-sized Amargasaurus, as well as, after 25 years of waiting, a Brachiosaurus figure, which appears to be around 2 feet tall and 3 feet long! Yup, you read that right! And if that wasn't enough, word on the street has it that we should be seeing species like Parasaurolophus, Coelurus, Dracorex, Rhamphorhynchus, Plesiosaurus, and of course the Indominus Rex. Better starting to organize your shelves in order to make space for all these new critters!

Hey folks! How about some rumors for next year's line? Our forum member and friend Diamondback managed to gather a lot of intel from various resources, enough to start having an idea of what 2021 has in stores for us. Here are several facts he managed to uncover:
Expected to debut with 2021's line second wave, the various sublines should see a rebranding: Attack Pack will be replaced by new Wild Pack, upgraded to Savage Strike-style gimmicks
Savage Strike possibly discontinued--possibly Wild Pack is a merger, expensive Savage Strike gimmicks with cheaper Attack Pack decoes
Roar Attack will replace Sound Strike
Massive Biters replaced by similar-size new Mega Destroyer (rumored to include capture gear)
Between the capture gear and the Nostalgia Trip Gallimimus deco, it's looking like Mattel is really trying to take inspiration from Classic Kenner
Some dinos still listed under codenames at Universal insistence to avoid spoilers
Update: as you may know, the release of Jurassic World Dominion was postponed in 2022, thus forcing Mattel to totally reorganize next year's line-up. Our very own Diamondback, along with our friends over at Collect Jurassic managed to dig up juicy info about what to expect next year. And this new line, called Dino Escape, should definitely deliver! Much of what we already knew was confirmed by Collect Jurassic's report, but they revealed something quite interesting that had been hinted at by Mattel before: a new sub-line consisting of human/dino two-packs, an excellent way to release new human figures (which are usually slower sellers than dinosaurs) without risking to see them clogging up shelves (everyone remembers the dozens of Owens in their local store). Great move, Mattel! And of course, as usual, take all this with a grain of salt, as plans can always change in the toy industry, especially with the current Covid situation. Take care of yourself and your close ones, and enjoy!
Not entirely toy related, but because we here at JPToys.com like to showcase our own, forum member and former moderator Stitch has posted his take on a Blue Harvest style Family Guy cartoon episode. It has already been showcased on the Freakin' Sweet News website and is the first post in their new fan art section.
Discussion of the artwork by Stitch can be found here, on our forums.
Stay tuned for further JP news updates!
A JP3 toy to be exact! Here's their review: We absolutely cannot wait until May. First the trailer, then the merchandise. Yes, there have been reports have merchandise being released and 'on the loose' now, but the action figures, the staple of the JP3 merchandise, is released in May. That's why we were so excited to when we got the chance to get our grubby little paws latched onto an official JP3 action figure from Hasbro. We've taken a few pictures (although not the greatest in quality) and we've got a few details - and we think you should start becoming very excited. Right about... Now. For a while we wrestled with the option of tearing the package open and playing blissfully with our action figure for hours, but ultimately decided to keep the figure safely in its' case, and placing somewhere safe - and high (encased in a high-security, titanium reinforced, air-tight room) - where we could 'honor' this magnificent creation. OK, maybe we went a bit overboard, but lets just get this straight, the figure looks great. The Military General (the toy we received) is accompanied by a T-Rex and a really cool looking gun; but we have no idea what to call it. The detail level on the figure is extraordinary - at least (seemingly) twice the detail of the Jurassic Park/The Lost World figures. Although you won't be able to appreciate the detail on the toy until you get up close, take our word for it, it's good. Not too much else to report, the packaging is cool, featuring a roaring Spino in the front (ready to bite!) and the backside is a little preview/advertisement for similar-priced figures (we assume). The summary of the action figures is as follows: Heroic humans fight for survival with ferocious dinos using Re-ak-A-tak action! Make dinosaurs ATTACK with awesome battle action while the heroes REACT with dino-tame weapons! If we're not mistaken, we've heard this before (in the press release?), but evidently this is what's going on the back of the human figurines. WOW! I can't wait any longer! Check out JP3 HQ (www.jp3hq.com) for the pictures.
Well, after e-mailing me to tell me that he had this toy in his hands and was preparing a review for it, it was very hard to keep quiet on this one! But their review is here for the Spinosarus and here's the highlights (go to jp3hq.com for the full review): The Spinosaurus comes in an open-air package, i.e. kids (or interested adults) can press all the cool buttons, play with the moveable parts, and generally mess around with it. Whether or not this is good or bad we do not know, but this does provide a good viewpoint to examine the overall dinosaur. So the detail level Good, but not great. It seems that with the increase in size, the attention to detail went down somewhat, but the average consumer probably will not notice or care very much. How about dinosaur detail? Im no dinosaur expert, but the spine on the Spinosaurus seemed awfully small our explanation would be that this is a juvenile, although the package does not say it is. Perhaps the most expensive piece to the set; the large ultra-realistic Spino-dino is the adult? Re-ak A-tak. Ever since we heard this new saying (last summer?) we have had high hopes for this series of product, and wondered what it would entail. Finally, we get an answer. Electronic dinosaur might have been enough to describe the Spinosaurus the A-tak (Attack) is simply pressing the button beneath the mouth, and the Re-ak (React) is achieved by pressing the button hidden in the dinosaurs wound. To some degree we can understand where Hasbro is coming from when they say it reacts and attacks, but it really is just a new name to an old feature. Not that the feature is bad the roars are crisp (more of a short high-pitched roar when compared to the past T-Rex toys), and the Spino includes a satisfactory amount of moveable parts. All in all, the Spinosaurus represents a good, solid toy; but it simply does not bring anything new to the table. HASBRO SALES HURTING Here's what the article had to say (go to excite.com for the full story): Hasbro said its quarterly global net revenues fell 40 percent to .3 million, compared with .5 million in the year-ago period. Sales from the Game and U.S. Toys segments declined year over year, chiefly due to slower demand for Pokemon trading card games and toys and the sale of its interactive unit. The article went on to say that there is still hope, "I don't think there is anything going in the toy sector right now to draw consumers into the stores, but there are bright spots," she said. In particular, market watchers said sales of toys related to the new Jurassic Park and Monsters Inc. movies could bolster Hasbro revenues. Thanks JP3 HQ!
After weeks of checking and checking, my local Wal-Mart finally received a shipment of JP/// merchandise. The only line they had was the "Re-Ak A-Tak" line. I was only able to pick up a couple right now (some of us have a budget to stick to ) . The two I chose were the Velociraptor and the Spinosaurus, next time around I'll get the Triceratops and T-Rex. As for the look of these new dinos, to be so small I thought they had excellent detail and great colors. I was able to pick them up for what I thought was a very decent price, $9.73. Most people have been reporting prices of over $10. If you have any other questions you would like to ask me about the Spino or the raptor please e-mail me and I'll be glad to answer your questions!
In part one of our look at the new JP/// toys, we'll take a look at the Alpha Velociraptor and the Spinosaurus. Also, Don't forget to vote in our current poll which is a very important one concerning a pending site addition that you could decide! Alpha Velociraptor- When I first saw this new raptor the thing that struck me the most was the great use of colors. Not only did the raptor have great colors but they looked realistic. I know that no one can actually know what a real dinosaur looks like but with previous attempts at making the raptors with new colors (TLW Cyclops Raptor) it just didn't have an authentic look. The new Raptor has two different electronic sounds that add too the enjoyment of this new toy. The first button is located right under the base of the neck and blends in very well with the red stripe running down its back. The sound is best described as a snort followed by the loud raptor scream that we've come accustomed to in the movies. The second "Dino Roar" is located near the base of the tail and is camoflaged with the "Dino Damage" wound very well. I would describe the sound as more of a raptor snarl than anything else. Now on to the measurements. The Alpha raptor in the box measures about 7 1/2 inches from head to tail. At first, I was very surprised in that I thought the "Re-Ak At-Ak" line would be a little bigger, but with the improvements in the coloring of the raptor and the cool sounds I give this new raptor 4 out of 5 stars. The only problem I had with the Alpha Raptor was that it was very hard to pose. The only thing that moves are the arms and legs, the head pose and the tail remain stationary. Spinosaurus - The Spinosaurus has some of the best detail for a smaller dinosaur toy that I've ever seen! The basic color used was brown mixed with what looks like a little bit of gold? All in all I thought it looked great and kind of reminded me of some of the coloring from the Dinosaurs (T-Rex and the Velociraptor) from the original Jurassic Park movie, kind of a throwback if you will. Like the Alpha Raptor this new dino also has two places for electronic roars called "Dino Roars". The first button is found under the neck of the Spino and is best described as a roar. The second button is found in the "dino damage" wound of the Spino and sounds more like a scream when compared to the roaring sound found under the neck. In the box the Spinosaurus measures about 8 inches from head to tail. It has moveable arms and legs, but once again a stationary head and tail, which allows for no movement at all. Compared to previous attempts at the Spinosaurus by the toy lines, I'll give this new attempt a 5 star rating. That does it for this first review, but make sure to check back soon when I'll be reviewing more toys from the Re-ak At-ak line for you. Next up for review: The T-Rex and the Triceratops.
For those that have yet to get their hands on or have yet to see the new Pteranodon (including me) from the "Re-ak At-ak" series comes these great photos. Notice the second photo is a good example of how the electronc button is hid really well on the "Re-ak-At-ak" line. It seems that this is a very rare figure so far with only a few people reporting to have seen it in their stores. There is one for sale on e-bay right now with the buy it now option set at $35, personally I think I'll take my chances at finding it for under $10! Click on the thumbnails for a larger view.
After reading our review make sure to check out our new Review section which is where you can find our past toy reviews as well as reviews sent in by you. In part two of our look at the new JP/// toys we'll take a look at the T-Rex and the Triceratops. My review will be broken down into four sections: color, sounds, measurements and finally an overall rating of the dinosaur. We'll start with the T-rex. T-Rex - Is this guy ready to sign up for the military or what? This new Rex almost look like he's wearing camoflage with it's use of mostly green and brown colors with a few black stripes thrown in here and there for some flavor (I feel like I'm cooking here!). The Rex has two sounds a.k.a. "dino roars" that are activated by pressing two different buttons. The first button that I came across was the one located just under his neck. When pressed the Rex opens his jaws and lets out a mighty roar that somewhat resembles the one that we've heard before in the movies. The one problem that I have with these sounds is that they are very harsh sounding sometimes. I sounds more like a "dino scream" than a "dino roar" if you know what I mean. Compared to other versions of the Rex that have been released, this one definitely falls way short of my expectations. Just like the Alpha Raptor and the Spinosaurus, I was expecting a much larger dinosaur. Also, the lack of any real ability to pose or move these new toys forces me to give this particular T-Rex 2 1/2 out of 5 stars. Triceratops - One of everbody's favorite dinosaurs is the triceratops and I thought he was well represented here with a nice color scheme. The most dominant color is brown mixed with a few darker spots here and there. The horns are colored white as is several spots that line the crest of this toy. With the attempts at recreating "dino roars" with these new toys, one has to wonder "we're they right"? Well, who knows but I'm not exactly sure what they were aiming at with this one. This tric lets out more of a scream than a roar, although the scream does try to turn into a roar near the end. Like the Rex, the trics electronic dino roar is located in the dino damaged wound are camoflaged as part of a bone. My first impression of the new triceratops was "not that bad". The nice use of colors and accurate looking skin texture gave this dino a fresh new look. Not to mention you can actually move this guy around a little better by moving his head up and down and the tail is made out of rubber which makes it a little more flexible than the other dinos. My final review for this tric : 3 1/2 out of 5 stars. Now go check out our new review section where Chris sent in a great review on his thoughts of the new toys. TOY DIVER PICTURE
I'm working very hard on a couple of reviews for the site today as well as a review or two sent in by some of you guys. Until then this should hold you over, "Darth Maul Sith Lord" at InGenOps posted this picture on the inGenNet forum of the Military diver that is supposed to come with the Spinosaurus. The detail of the figure is hard to make out but very cool nontheless! Rember to check back later today when I'll have my review of the T-Rex and the Triceratops from the "Re-ak A-tak" line.
Before we get to his great review, I would like to welcome Nick (jp3rapter) to our team here at JP TOYS CENTRAL. He will be helping me with the day to day chores of keeping you up to date with the latest JP toy news, and what a way to kick of his debut than with a two part review (part 3 & 4 should be up sometime tomorrow or early Saturday) taking a look at the Amanda Kirby and Alan Grant figures. Here what he had to say: Part three of the review will be about the figures from JP3. The figures are all well detailed, but smaller in size compared to JP and TLW figures. Well let’s get on with the review. Amanda Kirby and Spinosaurus-when I bought this figure I could see the difference in size. Amanda Kirby is about 3 and a half inches tall, while the old figures are about FIVE inches tall. Big difference. She with a small three prodded looking missile with an oversized launcher, which looks like a machine gun. Her clothes are very detailed with a rip in her left pant leg. She wears a white undershirt, Blue button up shirt, black gloves, tan pants and black boots. Included in the package was a juvenile dino. Not like the old dinos, which were all babies, this dino is bigger and badder. It comes with a juvenile Spinosaurus. As the figure the Spino is well detailed. The spino is about 2 and a half inches tall and about 4 and a half inches long. The colors of the Dino are really cool too. Its indigo or tan middle of body down and brown from the back to fin with blue streaks inside the Spino’s fin. It’s better in size and detail than the old Dino’s. I was satisfied with my purchase. Besides the difference in size with the figure and weapon, but well satisfied with the dino. The package is pretty cool too. It’s made of red rock (cardboard) with a Spino breaking through the left corner, which is pretty cool. At the edge of the right side in a striped warning sign. My overall rating for this figure is 4 out of 5 stars. Dr. Alan Grant & Velociraptor-This was the first figure I bought. At a price of 5.79, I thought it was decent. This figure is 3 in a half inches tall as with all the other figures. He’s not wearing a hat this time (??????????). He does wear a white button up shirt with a bandana tied around his neck, black gloves, brown belt, green pants with a tear in the right pant leg, and black shoes. He comes with a rather cool weapon, which is to, a bit to big for him. He comes with a grapple hand or whatever you want to call it. It is pretty cool because it actually opens and closes. Included in his package was a juvenile Velociraptor. It’s about 2 inches tall and 4 inches long. Its whole body accept for it’s back which is red, is dark brown with dark blue strips all around. To me it looks like a Cyclops Raptor from TLW and JP Dino’s, but smaller and in a different color. It to is well detailed. Since this was the first figure I bought, I was very excited to open it up and play around with it. I was very please to with my purchase of this figure. The package did not change at all besides the name at the bottom. All I’m wondering is “why did Hasbro make them so dang small.” But my overall rating out of five will have to be a 4.5!
My buddy Dan came through once again with a response from Hasbro regarding the new toys. Since I pretty much agree with Dan's response to what Hasbro had to say, I'll just let it speak for itself. Here's his e-mail with Hasbro's respnose in yellow: Interesting news today. While reading some posts on the IngenNET boards, I read a guy who had a theory that maybe there were more playsets coming out, and that the Raptor Attack playset was connectable to some other ones. I decided to check it out. I asked if there were more, and why the Raptor Playset is made up of old repaints. Here's their reply: "Thank you for contacting us. That is the only playset scheduled at this time. The repaints were done in order to keep the cost down. We appreciate your interest. Lois Consumer Affairs Department" I dunno about you, but I'm kinda mad at this. First, do they really expect collectors of JP merchandise to not know that the playset is made of repaints? And "to keep the cost down?" Why, so they can charge $50 for more fence pieces in the cynical hope that people will buy the same stuff twice? Maybe Hasbro doesn't realize it, but I for one would be willing to pay $50 for something new and cool, like the TLW Electronic Trailer. However, I refuse to pay that much for something I could dig out of my closet FOR FREE. I plan to write a letter of protest to Hasbro. This is completely stupid. The figure resizing I can take (and I can even like), but this response was too much.
"Canebrake" posted these very cool pictures of the new Air Heli Sabre Marine Copter over at the inGenNet forums. Here's his description of it: 1. Electrical sounds for the helicopter's blades 2. Electrical "firing" sounds when missle is launched 3. Electrical "damage" sounds when the dino-damage peice is taken off It sounds like the thing is crashing. 4. Blades twirl when you turn a dial 5. Missle fires 6. Cool paint job! Two-toned green. 7. Realistic pilot with oxygen mask and detailed life support system 8. Opening hatch and engine cover 9. Realistic Dino Damage and finally number 10- My rating for this toy! May 26, 2001
It seems that way at least according to "Mr. Goodbytes" who dropped me an e-mail to let me know about the recent sitings by members at inGenNet of some JP/// exclusives at Wal-Mart. Apparently you can now buy a pack that includes a re-paint of Harpoon Harrison (JP series 2 figure) as an African-American, a cyclops raptor re-paint and another re-paint of a Lost World triceratops. The pack retails for around $15. I haven't spotted this pack anywhere yet but I would love to see a photo if someone that has purchased it would like to send it to us here. In other news, I'm working on a review of the new "Re-ak A-tak" Pteranodon (which is awesome) and Dilophosaurus which should be up sometime tomorrow so keep checking back for that. Also, Nick wants me to let you know that he recently purchased the Raptor cycle pursuit set and is hard at work on a review fot it. So, stay tuned for a lot of reviews coming your way!
It seems like the only news updates we've had for you recently are reviews but this one was sent in over at Dan's JP3 page by "Kyle Hatch" of the new Raptor Rumble playset from LEGO. It's a good review and worth passing along so here's what he had to say: "So far, there seems to have been a great deal of negative buzz in the JP3 toys department, particularly when it comes to the two JP3 LEGO Studios sets. However, I've recently bought set #1370, "Raptor Rumble Studio" and I think both LEGO fans, and non-fans will be pleasantly surprised! One of the first things I noticed about the set were the minifigs, they're hard to miss. While the two cast figures bare no resemblance to those in JP3 (The guy is none other than LEGO Adventurer "Johnny Thunder", and the girl is also nothing new) However, the cameraman is pretty cool, excellent detail and personality for a minifig, actually kinda looks a little like Macy! The video camera he holds is also really neat, even comes with a little 1x2stud tape, which slides right inside! The movie set itself is by far the coolest part; it's filled with all kinds of little details and special effects!\ The set comes with a little 6x6stud clear dome, which can be flipped open and closed. Both windows on the lab can 'break' open sideways, (Providing easy access for hungry raptors!) and if that weren't enough, the entire roof of the lab, including the dome, is detachable! All pieces included can also be rebuilt to create a hanglider for two. And then there are the dinos -- it includes two raptors and a pteronodon. They may not bare an exact resemblance to those in the movie, but the liberties taken make these figures extremely poseable -- especially the raptors! My only disappointments are that the dino's heads aren't able to open or close, and that the actors included look absolutely nothing like the JP3 cast. But this certainly shouldn't discourage you from at least considering to buy this se -- if you're into JP toys, you shouldn't be disappointed here!"
Inkworks and the DreamWorks SKG fansite are teaming up to give you a chance to win a set of JP/// cards by answering a few JP/// trivia questions. Here's some of the details: The First Prize is a 72 Card Base Set in Binder while the four Runner Ups will each receive 72 Card Base Set. What do you have to do to win? Just fill in the form below along with the JPIII Trivia (hint to answers available in a form of link). Those who get the answers right are eligible to enter to win. The Contest Ends July 5th and Winners will be announced on July 7th, 2001. Jurassic Park III Trading Cards are available in stores July 5th, 2001. Make sure to check out the official site for all of the details. On another note, for those of you that ordered the Animatronic Spinosaurus from the Wal-Mart website and were worried about getting the "Re-ak A-tak" one, don't worry! "Velociraptor_101" over on the inGenNet boards is reporting that he received his package and it is the Animatronic Spino.
inGenNet has posted a review of the new animatronic Spinosaurus by JP Site C. Here's some of what they had to say about it: "The Jurassic carnage continues with Hasbro's latest dino-might release, there Re-Ak A-Tak Animatronic Spinosaurus. Standing 8 inches tall, and a 2-foot length, this dinosaur is ready to duke it out with the mightiest of opponents. The sail on his back stands approximately 2 1/2 inches tall at its largest point. Finally, we get a bit of the old JP back. Real-Feel skin covers his body from head to tail. The arms and legs are molded in a hard plastic and are able to be moved. The tail has two joints in it that allow it to curve or remain straight and it allows for the thrashing action of the head, much like what we had with TLW's "Thrasher T-Rex." The roars are none other than the ones used in the small Deluxe Spinosaurus. The most impressive feature of this figure however, is its "Animatronic" features." Click here for the full review. In other JP/// news, make sure to check out the "Tonight Show" with Jay Leno tonight where Jay's guest will be JP/// star William H. Macy and THE man...Kobe Bryant!
If you're wondering just what in the heck I'm talking about then you obviously missed (shame on you!) Jay Leno's interview with JP/// star William H. Macy last night on the "Tonight Show". It was a great interview and Macy is just about as hilarious as they come. One of funniest moments came when Mr. Macy decided to pull out his action figure and start playing with it! He had the wave two Paul Kirby that we've seen the picture of and also the Stegosurus that comes with it. It was hard to make out much detail at all but the color scheme on the Stego was mostly black and blue from what I could tell. But don't take my word for it, head on over to JP Database where our good buddy Jon has the interview broken down into smaller segments to make it eaiser to download. Make sure to keep your eyes open (like I have to remind you) for these new wave two figures as someone on Dan's message board is reporting to have already spotted them at their local stores! Be sure to let us know if you spot any. Hey, I've got to go...the mail man just dropped off my animatronic Spinosaurus!! Have a great weekend everyone!
While visiting my local Wal-Mart this weekend I noticed an in-store commercial for the "Roar for More" campaign. In the commercial it showed people going up to a Wal-Mart employee and givivng them their best "dino roar" and then recieving various prizes. Don't get too excited about the prizes because from what I could tell they looked like JP/// bullhorns, which is what the contestants where using for their "dino roar". But they were free so I guess you can't complain too much! The "Roar for More" campaign takes place on July 21st.
A big thanks to "Spinosaurus" who wanted to let everyone know that he spotted an advertisement in his local K-Mart sales paper for a sale on the JP/// toys. Here's what he had to say: "Starting on July 14 and lasting until July 21, the regular Re-Ak A-Tak dinos will be $8.00 and you can get two humans for $9.00. Also if you buy $20.00 worth of JP3 merchandise you get a free Collectable Movie Poster." So go out to your local K-Mart this weekend and check it out! Thanks again to "Spinosaurus" and have a great weekend everyone!
I just finished praising my new moderator in the last story and then he comes through for me with this interesting bit of news about a possible new line of Jurassic Park Dinosaurs. Here's what he had to say: "I have heard this rumor that about 5-6 months after JP/// dies down that they will come out with JPD 2! It was in my salepaper! It said "Jurassic Park Dinosaurs 2!?" And it had all kinds of box shapes colored black with a ? mark on them!" Again, this isn't anything official so you may want to take it with a grain of salt.
This tid-bit comes from the New Straits Times and is a little more detailed than the quotes that I posted a couple of weeks ago by Mr. Neill. Here's what he had to say: “I was rather disturbed by my action figure when it was presented to me a couple of days ago,” he said. “Given that they had come in and taken photographs and made a sculpture of me, it looked like someone else altogether! And the most disturbing thing about it was that it looked like Alan Grant had been abusing steroids for the last 57 years — because the musculature had to be seen to be believed!”
Here's a few tid-bits on the Tapejara story posted earlier this week. (check the archives section) - Here's a Tapejara ebay auction. There is no picture with the auction so I would be very careful if I were you! Item Description: YOU ARE BIDDING ON THE VERY HARD TO FIND NEW RELEASE OF THE JURASSIC PARK III ELECTRONIC REAK-A-TAK GREEN TAPEJARA DINOSAUR W/ BITING ACTION & DINO ROAR!! MINT IN MINT BOX; IN HAND & READY TO SHIP TO YOU!! - From my moderator Austin comes this: "I just got my parade newspaper, and it has releasing toys and toy rumors! It talked about the Tapejara, saying things like "Its a trick to get JP/// fans excited and they will buy more JP/// merchandise"- Barry Windohamn "Its simply just a small hosk"-Linda Harold They went on to say that it will not come out, but dont worry JP/// toy fans, this is a RUMOR style newspaper that I get weekly. So as Dan says sometimes, "You can take this with a grain of salt" I'm beginning to think more and more that this was a hoax. We haven't heard much from "Ancient Raptor" since he first posted the picture and he hasn't been able to produce a picture of the box which he says got thrown away. If it is the real thing, I'll be the first one to aplogize and say thanks for the heads up! Have a great weekend everyone!
If you haven't heard already, make sure you head on over to Toys R Us.com and enter for a chance to win a ton of great prizes! Maybe even a 2002 Jeep Liberty! Fourth Prize (100): A $100 Toys "R" Us gift card valid on Jurassic Park III or any other items at a Toys "R" Us store (approximate retail value: $100 each).
My good buddy and a regular contributor to this site, Dan, took time out of his schedule to give us his thoughts on the new Ultra T-Rex. Here's his review: Spino Dino may have won the grudge match in JPIII, but we all know who the real king is!!! I just got my Ultra T-Rex today from Wal-Mart.com (excellent shipping by the way) and all I have to say is: Wow. I've seen this toy before in stores (after getting it offline of course) and played with it, but this thing is even better out of the package. MOB collectors, you don't know what you'll be missing. First off: All you JP fans out there freakin out about how small it's going to be, don't worry. It's definitely bigger than the Junior Rex from JP. I didn't have a ruler handy, but I know that the Junior Rex is about 7 inches tall, so I'd put the Ultra Rex at about 9 inches when posed like it was in package. Those who love the Real-Feel skin of the previous Rexes will just have to console themselves with the JPIII Tri-tops and Anima Spino, cause this doesn't have it. It doesn't matter much to me, though, because instead of the skin, you get poseability and really nice sculpting. I know I'll probably get mail for this, but all the wonderful big Rexes that Hasbro has put out before have been unposeable, non-freestanding pieces of plastic. Well, no more. Rexy stands quite easily, and can be posed in quite a few moods just by moving the legs. The detail is also quite amazing. The paint is really nice, even though instead of those yellow feet, we get greenish-ochre feet. Mine also has great, clear eyes. However, I've seen some Rexes with really bad eye detailing, so buy carefully. The actions are pretty nice. Of course, there's the screech when the rib cage is pressed. When you press down on the right arm (in package, that arm faces out at you), you get the attack roar. The mouth opens nice and wide, easily enabling Rexy to pick up any hapless Military Generals you might have, or even bite down on a raptor neck or two. The Anima Spino's jaw doesn't open nearly this wide. It also makes a stomping action, though many people have complained they haven't heard it. Here's the trick: After triggering the A-Tak roar, slam it (but GENTLY!!!) feet down onto a hard, flat surface to trigger the stomp. Gently banging the palm of your hand against the feet also works nice. Overall: This Rex is a true winner. True T-Rex nirvana. I know there are those that will never buy it, and hug their Bull Rexes closer when they read this, but to me, this is what Hasbro should have made in 1993. Detailed, poseable, free-standing, noisy, and able to eat your figures. To me, this is the true Ultra Tyrannosaurus Rex. 5/5.
What a big news day this has been and this story takes the cake! First off, a big thanks goes out to my old friend Tyrant for this great picture! For the first time anywhere on the net comes this JP Toys Central exclusive, where we get a look at the wave two Alan Grant with Compies. For a review, make sure to check the story on July 31st where Tyrant sent in his thoughts. Click on the thumbnail for a larger version.
Hot of the presses are two great reviews of the new Pack Raptor and the Aqua Spinosaurus by our man Jeff. These are very thorough reviews and I highly reccomend them to you. Here's a snippet from the Pack Raptor review: "The Pack Raptor does not take a back seat to the Alpha Raptor. This is the raptor that should be the leader. This IS the raptor I so longed for and many are still searching for." I an effort to conserve space, both of the reviews are in the Review Section and you can check them out there.
In another JPTC exclusive (thanks to Alex Gayhart) we are now showing you these never before seen photos of what could be a JP/// poseable Carnotaurus! Here's what he had to say about it: "I went to my local comic shop and they had a JP3 Poseable Carnotaurus I don't know if it's some kind of bootleg but it was pretty cool. It bends esier than the Spino and Raptor although it's arms are curved upward and cannot go down.It is red withblack Stripes and tan spots on certain places it's a bit bigger than the others it's the size of TLW Thrasher Rex." The details are a little hard to make out but you can definitely spot the JP/// mark on the leg of the Carno. Hopefully this addition to the poseable family will be better than the previous two attempts with the Spinosaurus and Velociraptor. If you happen to spot this guy and can take a high quality picture of it, please send it our way so we can share it with tht toy world! Click on the thumbnails for a larger view. (Update- Apparently this particular Carno is available in Dinoland U.S.A. at Animal Kingdom. Some people are reporting that this may be the same Carnotaur from Disney's "Dinosaur" with a JP/// logo slapped on to make it look official. I guess you can take it for what it's worth and decide for yourself.)
A big thanks goes out to one of our forum regulars, JDTyrannosaurus for pointing this new toy our way. Apparently another version of the JP/// Spinosaurus this time a remote controlled one has popped up. Here's the description taken from KBkids.com: Taken directly from the blockbuster hit Jurassic Park III, this R/C Spinosaurus is one mean dinosaur that you can control! Featuring wireless easy to use remote control, the Spinosaurus has fantastic realistic walking motion, various re-ak and at-tak dino roars and "dino" feel soft skin. Huge predator swings his head from side to side, opens & closes his mouth and even bends down to search for prey! At 24-inches long, this is one dino you should think twice before messing with. Comes with a dino egg-shaped wirless remote control. Requires 6 "AA" alkaline batteries (not included). Wow, this is very cool and I'm still trying to figure out how it slipped under our radar. It still looks awesome nontheless and you can order it now for $49.99.
My good buddy Tyrant took some time to give us his thoughts on the Paul Kirby & Military Diver sets. He was even kind enough to take some pictures of them for us. Here's what he had to say: Diver: No boubt about it, this figure has no flaws! He has this really cool torpedo launcher to stop the aquatic monsters of Isla Sorna! His spinosaurus hatchling is far superior to Amanda Kirby`s spino. The coloring on it is superb! It`s grey, with a maroon colored sail, and metalic blue markings. This is a must for any Jurassic Park collector. I give the whole set a 10! Paul Kirby: Its ok, but whats with that coloring! He has a pink shirt, with olive green pants, and a goofy looking rip on the bottom of his left leg. And they didnt give him a mustach, and his hair is orange! He is still alot of fun to play with! But I think I am gonna re-paint him, he has a pretty cool net launcher. Now his stegosaurus is the best stegosaurus hatchling made! Its color is so cool, it was made so accurate, it looks close to the Stan Winston Studios one. I give the whole thing an 8, because of the stegosaurus.
Thanks to Dan J. for pointing out this interesting little tid-bit on the excitement over at Hasbro for the JP/// toy sales. Here's what he had to say: Here's why Hasbro was so excited about early sales... Toy Industry Association reveals top selling toys as of June 2001. In a bit of news that might be interesting to collectors, the Toy Industry Association (TIA- the folks behind the massive yearly event: Toy Fair) has announced the Top Selling Toys introduced in 2001 (Ranked by Dollar Sales) as of June 2001. These include (drum roll!): 1)JP3 RE-AK A-TAK ELEC. DELUX DINO ASST.- Hasbro, introduced April - $10.28 each.
Here's the latest on the Animatronic Spino for those unlucky souls living overseas Last we heard, the Spino was going to be released in various places overseas but now come this latest report from our man in the UK, Agent Smith: "Evil Jordy claims that when he rang up Hasbro for the first time to ask about the spinosaurus, the person on the other end of the phone thought that he was talking about the re-ak a-tak spinosaur. When he phoned again, Hasbro confirmed that the Animatronic Spinosaurus was a US only toy and would not be released anywhere else." We'll make sure to keep you updated on this story as soon as we get more information. Stay tuned...
Has it been a slow news week or what? Well, I couldn't leave you without an update before the weekend so I'll use this one to get caught up some stuff that you may have missed recently. First up, make sure you check out the new JP Toy Check list over at IngenOps. Our buddy Darth Maul has taken the time to make a very comprehensive list for those of you looking to complete your collections. Here's a blurb from his site: "This checklist is one of the most detailed lists out there and it is especially suited for people that want to check if they have everything to complete their collections including the variations etc. At this moment the checklist only covers the JP, TLW and JP3 movie toys, but will be expanded soon to include the other lines as well (JPD & CE)." Thanks to everyone who pointed this review my way. This site deals mainly with just toy related news but as I've said before I know there are many of you interested in these games and since the games and toys are so closely related, we'll continue to bring you both. Now on to the review. pocket.ign has posted their review of the new Park Builder game which they say has some faults. Here's some of what they had to say: "Konami's Jurassic Park 3: Park Builder is far from an original concept. In fact, it's been done before on the PC as Dino Park Tycoon. Konami's take on the idea isn't a direct port of that PC game, but it's a close rendition in pocket form, and it would have been a great game if the development team didn't assume that gamers would know what to do right out of the gate. Park Builder has some highs as well lows, but it's mostly good...if you can get through the necessary, but seriously annoying, trial-and-error phase." You can read the full
Our man Austin is back and he decided to take a look at the Park Builder game. You can read his review here. Have a great weekend everyone and Go Noles!
Did everyone have a great weekend? Mine went pretty good. Getting to watch my Seminoles beat the Clemson Tigers 41-27 in Death Valley was pretty awesome. And to top it off the Arizona D-Backs pulled off a great win (and their first championship) in thrilling fashion. It's just doesn't get any better than a game winning hit in the bottom of the 9th to win the world series. A big congrats goes out to Arizona and their fans. To NY, you've had your fair share so it's nice to finally see someone else win it. But never count the Yankees out, I'm sure they'll get another shot at it next year. Now on to today's update. I had a hard time this morning trying to decide what to ask in our latest poll. So I decided to take a stroll over to our message boards and visit some of the "hot" topics. One of the most interesting topics I found was one asking what you like to see in a JP/// series 2? Well, I took that question along with some of the most popular choices from that thread and there you have it...our latest poll question. So vote away and we'll be back soon with more...stay tuned!
Our good man Tyrant took some time to review the series 1 JP Stegosaurus. He was also kind enough to include some custom photos, you can read his full review here. That's about all I have for today so I hope everyone has a great weekend and hey, if you don't have a favorite college football team, why not pull for my Seminoles this weekend? We're a huge 15 point underdog going into Gainsville to take on the Gators and I have a feeling it might get ugly very quick! But I have faith and I know that I'm going to need a lot of it!
Is everyone having a great turkey day so far? I hope it's going great. I think even more so than in the past that this Holiday season should remind how very lucky we are to live in a great country like the United States. There's so many things to be thankful for that we usually just take for granted like freedom and our way of life. This year we were painfully reminded just how much that freedom can cost and I think America and Americans has responded very well. Now go on and enjoy that turkey & dressing but just keep in mind how very lucky we are and God bless the U.S.A!! Now on to the news, I have for you today a couple of brand new pages of dioramas sent in by Steffi Krug. You can view them here. Remember, if you'd like to submit your dioramas to JPTC just send them as .jpg's or .gif's and email them to us at: jptoyscentral@yahoo.com.
You know it has to be some pretty major news for me to have a weekend update and this time it is! If you haven't checked the toy site "Entertainment Earth" recently then you probably haven't noticed that they have what apprently looks like a second series of JP/// toys up for pre-order. While the details are pretty sketchy right now, they did provide a list of what's included in each assortment: The "Ravage Dino 2-pack assormtent #1" ($60.99) includes the following: 4x Lava T-Rex and Velociraptor, 2x Arctic Spinosaurus and Stegosaurus, 3x Swamp Spinosaurus and T-Rex, and 3x Desert Spinosaurus and Velociraptor. The "JP3 Deluxe Biting Dino Assortment #4" ($77.99) will include: 2x Jungle Spinosaurus, 1x Night Raptor, and 3x Arctic T-Rex. Also available for pre-order is an Re-Ak A-tak Canyon T-Rex ($26.99). Everything they have listed shows a release date of February 2002 but they are quick to remind everyone that that date is subject to change. While this is new information and we don't have any photos (yet) you can be sure that JPTC will keep you up to date as more info. becomes available...stay tuned! (Thanks to Jurassic Toys & Alpha Carnotaur) Also, I just finished updating Steffi's dioramas with two more new ones. You can view them in the diorama section.
One of the better DVD review sites on the web, DVD Review, has just posted their overall positive look at the JP 3 DVD. They've also posted a nice little behind the scenes look at Stan Winston's Studio called "Creature Features." Here's a snippet from the article: “I am in awe every time I walk into this room, just as you are now,” an energetic Stan Winston says when meeting me and a number of other journalists in the company’s conference room, which is filled with life-size creature exhibits from the movies he worked on. From one corner a T-Rex is staring at visitors, while the Terminator lets you look down the barrel of his gun. A beautiful Raptor is eyeing you as you take a seat and a gorgeous “Small Soldiers” diorama reminds us of some truly great movie highlights. But that’s not all, above it all tower creatures and monsters, filling up every available inch of the room, all of them so realistic-looking that it can in fact become frightening." Both the behind the scenes article and the DVD review itself are great. So what are you wating for...check them out! That's about it for today and what a day it's been! We'll be back soon with more so stay tuned!
Thanks to one of our forum members "Cool_Bambiraptor" for sending us these two great reviews on the animatronic & poseable Spinos. You can read both of them in our review section and remember if you'd like to submit your review on any of the JP toys, just head on over to the contact page and find the instructions on how to do so. Have a great weekend everyone and I'll be back Monday with my take on the JP3 DVD.
As you can tell, we have a brand spankin' new site layout! I've been working on it for a little while now and with the help from some of my staff, this is what we came up with. While it's not a drastic change, it is something a little fresh & new that still manages to capture the essence of the old layout. I hope you like it! Speaking of the site, don't expect many updates (if any) over the next week or so due to the holidays unless of course something big breaks, then we'll be right back here to let you know about it. BTW, we have a new JPTC poll up for you to offer your opinions...go vote! The whole JPTC team would like to take a moment to wish everyone a safe and happy holidays. It's been a very trying time this year for everyone especially us Americans and I think everyone needs a little break to reflect & recover. So have a very Merry Christmas everyone and we'll see ya soon!
Thanks to our forum member "Bambiraptor" for sharing these pictures of the newly re-packaged JP/// bonus packs. They're not new toys or anything like that but it looks like an attempt on Hasbro's part to sell some more dino toys! According to Bambiraptor they are selling for about $13 which is about $4-$6 cheaper when you buy the bonus pack versus buying them individually. Here's some more of what he had to say: "Anyway, at K-Mart, there were TWO AISLES filled with JP toys! They had the Poseable Spino, Poseable Raptor, all the Deluxe Re-ak A-taks, the vehicles and playsets, both Utra Re-ak A-tak Dinos, all the humans, the Anima Spino, EVERYTHING! Plus, there were two-packs! I had never seen any of those before. Anyway, there was one with the Brachio and Trike, one with the Tape and the Pack Raptor, and there were probably more that I didn't see. Anyway, the humans were $3.99 and the Ultra Re-ak A-taks were $19.99. I'm not sure how much the two-packs were. Anyway, I bought the Military Diver, the Ultra Alpha Pteranodon and the Tapejara and Pack Raptor two-pack." Thanks again to Bambiraptor for the pics and be sure to click on the photo for a view of the back of the package.
This time they're bascially giving it away! We reported in a story last week that the animatronic Spinosaurus could be had for $25, well now you can get that same Spino for a measly $5! This is truly a great price and I hope everyone gets a chance to take advantage of it. You might want to hurry though because according to Wal-Mart.com: "This item is being discontinued. Availability may be limited." Good luck!
Maybe, at least according to Darth Maul over at InGenOps: "Missing a few figures or dinos from the JP3 line? Your local Wal*Mart will help. Currently, figures in most Wal*Marts are going for $3.00. That's half price. Ultra Re-Ak-A-Tak Dinos (Rex, and Anima Spino) are going for 15 dollars a piece. Vehicles, like the Chopper and the ATDT, are at 10 Dollars. These bargains aren't going to last, so this is the perfect chance for anyone to get their collections up to speed." I checked out a few Wal-Marts over the weekend and I couldn't find any sales! Maybe they're just getting this sale going and it has yet to spread to my local area. We shall see and please feel free to let us know if you spot any great JP3 bargains!
My good buddy Matt over at dvdcoverart finally got around to posting his custom jobs on the JP3 DVD covers. He bascially takes DVD covers that people aren't so fond of and then makes his own custom verisions available for download on his site. The results are fantastic and he has an extensive gallery of covers from other movies for you to choose from. In case you were wondering, he also has custom versions of JP & TLW available for download. For the JP & TLW covers he used the original theatrical posterwork for a more uniform looking trilogy when placing them on your shelves...check them out!
This morning when I rolled out of bed, I was pleasantly suprised to see that proboards has finally made that server upgrade that they've been promosing for a while now and along with it comes some great new features! We now have the ability to put a "sticky thread" at the top of a board if we like for major announcements and for the members, you now have the ability to create your own poll thread. There are several other little upgrades that you'll probably notice as you make your way around the boards today but those were the major ones. Not all is well though, it seems as if the people over at proboards still have a few bugs to work out before everything is back to normal. For one, the headers & footers on my boards (and others) seem to be duplicating the codes and the latest news won't fade in & out like it should. Also, you may notice that the regular address (dinodan.proboards.com) is not redirecting you to the forums, instead it takes you to the proboards.com home page. Maybe they'll have these items fixed sometime soon but in the meantime you can get to the boards by clicking here or by adding a 2 to the address: dinodan.proboards2.com.
If you're like me and you're wondering just where in the heck your bonus trilogy disc is, then you've come to the right place. I did a little investigating last night and was able to find a phone number that will take you right to a Universal customer service rep. that can tell you the status of your disc. Mine was still in processing so I have a little longer to wait but at least I know they have received my payment/order which gives me a little peace of mind. The toll free number is: 1-800-698-8705...good luck!
Thanks to our eagle eyed forum member, Mr_Goodbytes for pointing out that the new CamoXtreme pictures have been completely removed from Hasbro's website. Does this mean that they have decided to do away with the line all together? Well, I for one surely hope not but I know there are those of you out there that would take this as great news. Stay tuned to JPTC for all the latest details. *Update*- Mr_Goodbytes did a little more checking into this for us and here's what he found out: "Thank you for contacting us. There are no end dates on the product line at this time but there is no announced product for 2002. We will know more after February" Notice it says After February, the U.S. Toy Fair is in February. So, maybe they are waiting until they see how well the toys are recieved at Toy Fair. This means that we could possibly have more repaints, and new molds!!! This whole thing just keeps getting stranger and stranger. Mr_Goodbytes couldn't be more right, this is a very strange situation. Either way it looks like we may have a while to wait until we see any new JP toys.
Before we get to the new poll question, lets go over the results from the last one...shall we? Our last poll posed the question, "Which CamoXtreme 2-pack are you most looking forward to?" We had exactly 100 votes and with %35 of the vote (the majority) most everyone is looking forward to all of them! Out of the packs listed, the Tropical Pteranodon/Compies 2-pack was the most anticipated with %25 of the final vote. Now on to the latest poll which I think will be interesting to see the results of. I got the idea from our message boards where one of our forum members "Ultra_T-Rex" asked the question, what do you think is the most movie accurate dinosaur? Well, I've taken some of the most popular responses to that thread and put them in a voting format. So which JP toy do you think is the most accurate to the movies? Go vote and let your opinions be heard!
Well gang, in just a few hours I'll heading down to sunny Florida with my wife & family on a much needed vacation! We'll be visiting Disney World and the one I'm looking forward to the most...Islands of Adventure! I'll be sure to take plenty of pictures and post them when I get back. Anyway, I just wanted to give everyone a heads up and to let you know not to expect another update until at least the middle of next week at the earliest. In the meantime, don't forget that our weekly JPTC chat is still on for tomorrow night starting around 9pm eastern time or whenever everyone decides to show up If you have any question/problems or both, please direct them to one of my moderators in the forum. BTW, I did receive my free JP Bonus disc earlier this week so as soon as I get back and get finished going through it (what I've watched so far has been awesome!), I'll be sure to post a mini-review of some sorts for everyone. So take care and have a great weekend eveyone!
A big thanks to everyone who particaipated in our first ever diorama contest! We had an overwhelming response with about 25 total entries (maybe more). Anyway, I think since this one went so well you can probably guarantee a second JPTC diorama contest in the very near future. O.K., now on to what everybody's been waiting for...the winners!
Movies Novel Fiction 1st - Ultra2k1 1st - Jurassic Joe 1st - Jurassic Joe 2nd - JPAction Man 2nd - Ultra2k1 2nd - Mr_Goodbytes 3rd - Jurassic Joe 3rd - rexforever 3rd - rexforever *Best Overall* - Ultra2k1 "The T-Rex Chase"
Congratulations to all the winners. Each winner will be receiving a siffy new logo that's having the finishing touches put on it as we speak. The last thing that I'll mention today is something very exciting! JPTC is now only 5 days away from our 1 year anniversiary and we have some very big surprises in store for you! What you may ask? Keep it here for more details because everything is being finalized as we speak and that process shouldn't take much longer. Thanks to CageMaker for bringing us this latest spotting at his local K-Mart: "Ya see I have found the camoXtreme 2 packs all over the triangle except K-mart they're sold out of JP toys! Well there was only one camoXtreme 2-pack there and it was with a military general they are taking our pride! They were on the top shelf I couldn't reach! But they are out right now!" So this morning we're down and now we're back up again! (read next story if you're confused Be sure and let us know if you happen to spot any!
Wow, did this ever take me by surprise! After many months of petitions it looks like Kenner & Hasbro have finally decided to listen to the consumers! From what I know, the line is already in production and should be out sometime later this fall. The line will carry all of our old favorites including the Carnotaurs & Gallimimus...click here for more details! (April fools! )
Old "eagle eyes" himself, Mr_Goodbytes points out that entertainmentearth.com now has the JP3 Deluxe Biting Dino Asst. 4 listed as "Hot Off The Truck". The pre-order demand must have been pretty high though because they're also listed as Out Of Stock - Arriving soon. The total price for the assortment is listed as $77.99 and includes the following: Jurassic Park 3 `Re-ak A-tak` Sound Deluxe Electronic Dinosaur Action Figure Assortment 4. Re-Ak is the `Dino Roar` sound each dinosaur makes when it is being attacked. `A-tak` is a sound each dinosaur makes when it is on the offensive. Each dinosaur roars at the push of a button. Includes: 2x Jungle Spinosaurus with biting action, 1x Night Velociraptor with slashing action, and 3x Arctic T-Rex with biting action.
Mr. Goodbytes once again points out that entertainmentearth.com now has the JP3 Deluxe Biting Dino Asst. listed as "In Stock". So take that for what it's worth and get those orders in!
In totally unrelated news, one of the first reviews of Star Wars Episode II is in from Ron Epstein the owner of the Home Theater Forum. It's a great review and definitely worth checking out if you're a fan...have a great weekend!
Thanks to Tyrant for dropping off our latest batch of reviews. We get a review of his newly accquired Gallimimus, which he will now hand over to me for posting this review. We also get a look at Mr. Dino Tracker himself, Sgt. T-Rex Turner. He was even kind enough to take pictures of both so make sure to check those out and a little FYI, make sure to keep it close in the coming days... hint, hint .
Most of you may know us as "JPTC" and for those that don't...welcome aboard! As you can see, we have a snazzy new layout thanks to my partner in crime Armothe (who I can never thank enough!). I know we’ve been promising that “it’s coming” for some time now but to make a long story short...we ran into a few snags along the way ;-). But that’s all behind us now and I think you’ll find that it was well worth the wait! You’ll probably notice that most of the content is from our old geocities site. Well, this is just temporary until we get the next phase of our project underway. We have some big upgrade plans in store including a new & complete toy archive, a merchandise store as well as a bootleg & custom toys section.
All we ask for right now is your patience as we try to gather up our resources, take a deep breath and get phase 2 rolling. In the meantime, feel free to look around and get familiar with things and don’t forget to cast your vote in our latest poll question on what you think of the new layout. So stay tuned and have a great weekend!
Thanks to those out there that have submitted your links to us over the last few weeks. I was finally able to get those up today. We're sorry it took so long to get them up but as you can see, we've been quite busy around here lately Speaking of that, I've received numerous emails and questions on our forums lately wanting to know just when will our new sections be up? Well, I can't give you a definte answer on that except to tell you that we hope to have them up in the not too distant future. Everything takes time and this is a huge undertaking we have planned here. Some of us have jobs & families that must come first, so all we ask for is your patience...thanks!
BTW, I had an opportunity to see Star Wars Episode II this past Thursday and I must say that I really enjoyed it! It ranks right behind A New Hope & The Empire Strikes Back IMHO. So make sure to check it out if you haven't already, I don't think you'll be dissapointed!
It appears so as one of our staffers here at JP Toys, AcroIguana, received this response from entertainmentearth while inquiring about new Camo shipments:
"Unfortunately, at the present time, we do not anticipate any further shipments for this item. Word has it, Hasbro has discontinued this wave's production and it is no longer available."
So is this indeed the final nail in the Camo coffin? It looks that way to me but if there's one thing we've learned from this wave it is to expect the unexpected! So stay tuned and we'll pass along more details as they become available. One other quick note to pass along to you today, forum regular Mr_Goodbytes has started a petition to let Hasbro know that we consumers would like to see a second series of JP3 toys! Will it work? Who knows but it sure couldn't hurt anything to give it a shot. So if you'd like to join in the effort, you can do so by signing here. It only takes a few seconds and you just never know what might happen.
Thanks to forum member "Jurassic Joe", here's your first chance to see an up close look of those JP3 miniature Re-ak A-tak bootlegs that were spotted on ebay not too long ago:
Something interesting to note here is that Joe found them in a retail store. According to him, they came in little plastic bags and the description on the back read: "Terrifying dinosaurs hunt people named Alan Brant, Bobby Breenan, and Erin Kirly! Collect them all!" He also went on to say they had a Spino, T-Rex and a Dilo but the quality wasn't as great on them. It definitely looks like someone is trying to make a cheap buck but the quailty on these two guys isn't half bad...I'd buy 'em!
Our review section here at JPT hasn't had an update in quite some time but that dry spell is now over thanks to forum regular Roselaar. He recently submitted close to 40 new TLW & JP3 reviews! Let me tell ya folks, these are some of the most detailed and articulate reviews to ever grace our review section. I highly recommend that you take some time to check them out...you won't be disappointed.
I apologize for the lack of updates lately but this is about as dry as it's been in a long time. JP4 can't some soon enough! However, I did want to take the time to wish you and yours a very merry Christmas and a happy new year. Thanks again for another wonderful year here at JPT...you guys are the best! Also, it just wouldn't be Christmas without passing along something, so here's a new diorama gallery from forum vet JPdude.
Take a look at the very rare TLW collector cards that were only released in Europe in very limited quantities. Forum moderator 'Triceratops123' was kind enough to provide the scans and we've now uploaded them to our Lost World section for your viewing pleasure.
Forum moderator 'Triceratops123' came across an interesting LEGO bootleg recently that is based on the JP Raptor Pit. You can view the picture by clicking here. More pics can be found on our forum. Along those same lines, we have a new custom addition from 'Eddi' that features his take on that same Raptor Pit from the first film.
We've seen JP Dino Dogs & Nuggets so far so why not JP LunchAsaurus? Semms like the next logical step...right? Well forum member 'Spinosaur122' came across these (well actually his girlfriend did...heh) at a local Wal-Mart for about $2 a piece. You can choose from Jurassic (Ham & American), Raptor (Nachos) and T-Rex (Turkey & American). Each package back contains word games as well as fun dino facts (Spino, Raptor and T-Rex). That not enough for ya? Well each LunchAsaurus also includes this water pack pack to wash things down with. That's a good call based on the taste of the dogs & nuggets.
*Update - 7/3* - Forum member 'garrettjdg' came across yet another LunchAsaurus, Prehistoric Pizza. Here's a shot of the back as well.
Also today, I want to take the time to wish those of you in the States a very happy & SAFE 4th of July celebration. I hope that you keep our men & women overseas that are in harms way in your thoughts and prayers.
No, this isn't our idea of a late April Fool's joke (although it would've made a good one). Forum member 'Piltdown Chickenraptors' came across an ebay auction recently that may just have the only "unreleased" Chaos Effect Ultimasaurs that we've seen so far. Is it the real deal or perhaps a clever custom? Click here for the pic. We will of course keep you updated if/when we receive any more info. on this potential stunning find.
(UPDATE 4/09) - The auction has ended with apparently no winner according to the seller who told us that the item was withdrawn so that he could take more time to properly evaluate the item's worth and go from there. We can only hope that it will pop up on ebay again sometime soon so that we'll have another chance to solve this mystery. Until then, stay tuned for further updates and please pass along anything you see fit as it relates to this story.
No, not the news kind. Yes, real eatable chicken nuggets straight from the park...err...freezer section of Wal-Mart. Forum moderator Kevin came across these delectable dino delights and was kind enough to snap a couple of pics for us. You can view them here and here. Now, is anybody ready to take one for the team and actually taste these genetically altered/processed chicken nuggets? Or is it chicken? We'll let you be the judge. Be sure to drop us a line if you come across any and let us know how they taste.
We've certainly had our fair share of JP merchandise liscense updates over the last year or so, almost all confusing to say the least. Well forum member 'crex' (who also happens to be Chris - see 10/2 story below) recently had one of his staffers inquire directly to the Star Wars team at Hasbro to get some sort of definitive answer on just what is really going on. Here's what he had to say:
"Since the summer the Star Wars team @ Hasbro has been allowing the SW Collecting sites to submit 3 questions each week. So after a few weeks of doing this, I decided to see if they would bite on a JP question. Turns out they still have the license and do plan on future releases BUT they are repaint exclusives to KB. Now obviously, the findings at KB months ago support that.
If the license ran out, someone would pick it up and announce it. And the exclusive thing has been following Hasbros MO lately with the repaints. There has been plenty of repaints with Star Wars and thats a license thats a year removed from a movie year, 6 months before the 30th anniversary build up and the upcoming TV shows. A license like JP wouldnt make fiscal sense to invest money for new product when no significant news is out there in terms of movie announcements and they can still get some return from JP with small scale repaints."
A big thanks to Chris again for that update. So in short, we can expect more repaints down the road until JP4 rolls around. I'm sure that's what most expected anyway but hopefully this report can serve to clear matters up just a bit. Also worth noting today is a set of JP3 prototypes that recently surfaced on ebay and were purchased by forum moderator Raptoralpha. He was kind enough to take several new pics along with descriptions which can all be found in this thread on our forum.
It was recently brought to my attention that we somehow overlooked updating the JP Dinosaurs section with last years 3rd wave/series. Well I'm glad to say that it is now updated for your viewing pleasure. Better late than never...right?
Also today, I wanted to jump off the beaten path for a minute to address a very serious problem that effects many people all over the world - diabetes. One of our forum members Chris has a 6 year old son Christopher that is a rabid Dinosaur fan, JP toy collector and a regular visitor here at JPToys.com. However, that may be where his simalarities with most of you end. Christopher has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes since he was 4 years old. He must have his glucose levels checked and managed several times daily through an insulin pump (yet some kids still require multiple injections of insulin). As you could imagine not only is this quite the chore for the parents but just think of the afflicted in this case. Christopher seemingly takes it all in stride and seems to have adjusted to his affliction quite well according to his Dad but you know it has to be tough on him.
This is why Chris is dedicated to help find a cure for this disease and would like your help. Christopher will be participating in his 3rd "Walk To Cure Diabetes" on October 15th in Pennsauken, NJ. If you can't make the walk, you may make a donation on behalf of Christopher at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Also, be sure to check out Christopher's website (run by his Dad) for all the latest news and any other FAQ you may have about diabetes. It's not often that we get a chance to participate in something larger than ourselves so make sure to check out those links and help out if you can. Every little bit helps!
Forum moderator Raptoralpha came across this interesting article from the Wall Street Journal that shows just how dominating the Star Wars merchandising machine is. How does this relate to JP you might ask? Well the article also includes a graph that details the other major movie franchises and just how good their box office take is compared to the merchandising totals. Pretty cool stuff. For whatever it's worth (probably nothing at all), the JP franchise is by far the most balanced in terms of the differences. Click on the graph to the right for a larger look.
Forum member 'Triceratops 123' recently posted a very interesting article (written by himself with help from an ex-Hasbro employee) that details just what went on in the days right before the doors closed at Kenner. This in turn lead to the eventual scale issues that we're all too familar with in the JP3 line. Here's what he had to say:
"It all starts with Chaos Effect. Sales are less than expected, and the Night Hunter series is cancelled because of this. The Jurassic Park series becomes "somewhat of a thorn in Hasbro's eye".
In 2000, Star Wars Episode One toys were overproduced. Sales were low and Hasbro had to downsize. The victim was the Kenner department in Cincinatti. 100 people were transferred, 400 were fired. Amongst these 400 was the Jurassic Park design team (not just JP, they also designed Batman amongst other toy lines) , who had just started the very early concepts for Jurassic Park///. Now that there wasn't a design team for Jurassic Park anymore, Hasbro assigned it to their Star Wars people, who scaled the humans to be in size with Star Wars figures, and made the style of the toys similar to the ones from Episode II.
This is, in a nutshell, why the scale and style is so different from 2001 onwards. The employee that I've had contact with is indeed one of the fired people, and he helped me on detailing the story and pointed out few mistakes on my account, but my research results were pretty much correct when I put them together."
So we can all blame it on George Lucas eh? Regardless of how it all came down, it does provide a nice behind the scenes look at just what was going on during that time. We hope to bring you more of these articles in the future and create a somewhat comprehensive look at the history of the Jurassic Park line.
In the continuing saga of "just who has the JP merchandise liscense" comes this latest entry from forum member 'Raptorbite' who apparently contacted Hasbro on his own and was rewarded with the following:
"I just got off the phone with hasbro and to my suprise I found out that they are no longer holding the Jurassic park license but it has instead been sold to a different company for production of a "yet to be named" new JP line. That will possibly be realesed by christmas. The JP dinosaurs series 3 line was in fact the last line that we will ever see from hasbro so says "Devon, The guy I spoke with." He said there is bigger and better things in store for JP. When I asked about JP4 toys being produced by hasbro, He said that all the JP4 information is "Non-Disclosed for the time being." Before I had the chance to hang up He asked if I was a JP fan of sorts and of coarse I replied with a Exuberient YES! He said I will be satisfied before the years end."
At this point we've heard so many varying reports that it's hard to keep things straight anymore so as always, please take this with a grain of salt until we can get further verification. However, if this turns out to be true it looks like an exciting time for JP collectors in the next 6 months or so.
We don't have anything earth shattering to pass along today but I did want to take the time to wish all of you out there a very Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season. We definitely appreciate you guys & gals that make us your #1 trusted source for JP toy news & information. It's been a blast having you along for the ride. Who knows, with a little luck, maybe we'll have some new JP4 toys to chat about in the coming year - see ya then!
On the heels of our last customs update we have another new gallery from 'Marten' with a dandy lead-off entry! Have you ever wondered what the unreleased Gulper T-Rex might've looked like? Well Marten's given it his best shot so here's your chance to take a peek! Be sure to give that a gander. In related news, everyone is already familiar with custom regular 'Bucket-foot Al' aka Vlad. Well he now has his own gallery/webpage with all of his previously released customs and of course those he's currently working on. His gallery here his linked to the new site as well. Lastly today we have a new JPD3 poll question up for your voting pleasure.
Thanks to DemonCarnotaur and RaptorAlpha, you can now take your first look at the new JPD3 Deluxe & Micro 2-packs in loose form. Top row is the deluxe line (with micros) and the bottom row would be your micro 2-packs:
Thanks again those guys for passing those shots along. As you may have noticed, we did not include the Deluxe T-Rex in that first row. Simple reason is, we don't have a loose shot yet. As soon as we run across one, I'll make sure to update this story with it.
It seems that Malcolm of JP Database managed to get a short interview with Jack Horner, the well known paleontologist who acted as a consultant on all three Jurassic Park movies. Personally, I think that Horner's career has gone downhill ever since his involvement with the films, but I guess a news reporter isn't allowed to give his opinion. At any rate, here's the scoop:
Q: How much of a difference was it working with Joe Johnston in JP3, than Steven Spielberg in the other films?
A: I like both of the directors a lot. But Joe Johnston is very interested in paleontology and has come out to the field every summer for the last three years. So he and I have become very good friends. Steven, is a good guy, but I don't know him personally as well as Joe.
Q: What species are the 'compys' in The Lost World and Jurassic Park 3 based off? Do you think it was really possible for the compys to have been pack hunters?
A:Compsognathus, and no, I don't think its likely they were pack-hunters.
Q: Were there any dinosaur characteristics that you did not like or had a problem with in the JP trilogy but were still used because Spielberg/Johnston wanted them?
A: T-rex runs too fast, and none of the dinos are colorful enough.
Q: In the making of JP you seemed rather upset with the idea of the raptor sticking out their tongues like snakes because it portrayed them more like reptiles than birds...were you as upset with the Dilophosaurus having a neck frill like an existing reptile today?
A: No, there is no evidence suggesting that it didn't have a frill. That is fictional license, but we know that dinosaurs didn't have forked tongues.
Q: How long have you believed that Tyrannosaurus was a scavenger?
Did you ever try to influence them to show any of the dinosaurs scavenging in Jurassic Park and/or The Lost World?
A: For about 10 years. Yes, and T-rex is portrayed as a scavenger in JP3.
It sounds like Jack wasn't all that thrilled about this interview. Perhaps its because few people take him seriously anymore after his involvement with the films.
First off, we here at JPtoys.com want to send our thoughts & prayers to those in New Orleans, Mississippi and Alabama that had there lives literally ripped apart by hurricane Katrina. The amount of devistation is simply astonishing. Many people are wanting to help out and probably the best thing you could do is to donate what you can to the American Red Cross. By clicking on the link it will take you to a page where you can donate anywhere from $10-$500. Ten bucks may not sound like much but at this point, every little bit helps.
The big toy news today comes from forum moderator Stitch who was able to track down these new Deluxe Dinos for us at a KB store:
Other than the hideous micro dinos (tric doesn't look too bad), these deluxe versions are definitely top notch repaints. So be on the look-out for them soon at a toy store near you! (9/6 - UPDATE) - Thanks to 'DemonCarnotaur' for the back shot!
The first of what will probably be many tests for the official Jurassic Park IV logo was released last night. There is no proof as to the validity of the logo, in the form of a standee, but it comes from a very reliable source, the beloved Big Razzie. She is currently unable to give us any information as to how she aquired the standee, which she has named "Nivu". Razzie does have several pictures available on her website. Take a look, and let us know if you happen to come across any new developments in the production of Jurassic Park IV!
We've been promising since day one that we would one day get around to updating our toy archives. Trust me, we know the current ones just plain stink (to say the least). Well, that long awaited day is finally here! Our first completed section happens to be the JP3 Hybrids. Once there, you'll find more high quality pictures than you can shake a bone at! We have box shots, loose shots, diorama shots & more! That will be the basic template you can expect for the rest of the sections as well. Which section are we doing next? You'll have to stay tuned to find out!
Our goal here at JPToys is to give you the visitor the most complete Jurassic Park toy database on the internet and we sincerely hope you enjoy our latest step in that process. It may be a slow process but we are determined to reach our goal. Also before I go, I would be amiss if I didn't thank our site administrator Armothe for all of his dedicated work on not only this latest section, but our entire site in general. He stays a very busy man and every moment he can take to help out on this site is greatly appreciated. Have a great weekend everyone!
As you may or may not have noticed lately, we've recently undertaken the task of updating some of our older toy database shots as well as adding hundreds of new ones. The update was LONG overdue but better late than never...right? We'll continue to add shots in the coming weeks but the massive first push is over with, just a few things here and there left. I also have to thank our good friend Marten (better known as 'Gallimimus' on the forum) for helping provide many of the new shots you see. He has been quite genrous with his time and for that, I will always be grateful! Other than that today, we have a new collection gallery up from 'Triceratops123' and it's in flash!
JP Database brings us this article about the current status of JP4. The latest news from Universal is that Joe Johnston will definitely not be directing the four adventure, and Steven Speilberg probably won't eiether. However, Speilberg is the master behind the fabulous story Sam Neil has been talking about, so we can certainly expect something good! Remember, the film is still in very preliminary stages, so don't take any of this information as more than a rumor right now.
The JPToys.com staff would like to take this opportunity to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year! On a more personal note, we would like to thank each and everyone of you that continue to make us your favorite place for JP toy news & discussions.
Did everyone have a nice New Year's celebration? I spent mine down in the "Big Easy" so you know I had a blast! Well I do hope everyone had a great time and we here at JPToys.com certainly wish you & yours the best in '03.
I also wanted to make a quick mention today about the most recent addition to our Forum. Last week we added an "Other Toys" board, where as you guessed it, members can enjoy discussing those other "outcast" toy lines such as Star Wars and LOTR. We also decided to merge the Sale/Trade board with the JP Toy Talk board. If you're not a member of our forum yet, please take the time to read over our guidelines and then sign up with Proboards quick & easy registration form. Now's a better time than ever, with over 460+ members, there's always something to talk about!
Dan's JP3 Page brings word that the Official XBox Magazine has taken a look at the upcoming Jurassic Park game, Operation Genesis. According to the article, the game has some nasty draw-in, meaning that you can see the landscape farther from the camera drawing itself in, something that is sure to detract from the excellent visuals we've been seeing for this game. The magazine finds this "unforgivable", but they are very impressed with the gameplay. For those of you that don't have Xbox, don't dispair. Operation Genesis will also be available for Gamecube, PC and PS2 when it is released in March.
A big thanks to Raptoralpha and our very own Armothe for these latest entires in our Customs gallery. Raptoralpha has 5 new customs, while Armothe adds two new LEGO customs to his gallery. Remember, if you would like to see your custom JP creations displayed in our gallery, just drop us a line and we'll take care of the rest. (Late Update) - Just added a new custom sent in by Bucketfoot-Al of the "Spinosaurus Imperator" - enjoy!
A Brachiosaurus find Help his way through the jungle!
Play Tic-Tac-Toe with friends
Or, have fun coloring a fierce Spinosaurus
Do all of the above with help from our new Color & Games section! (located in our downloads section).
Featuring pages taken directly from the Jurassic Park coloring & activities books themselves, this new section will allow you to express your unbridled creativity or just pass some time on a rainy day.
Also, be sure to check out the other downloads sections. We've added instructions and decals for both the Chaos Effect and Dinosaurs toy lines.
First up I wanted to mention our new poll question. This time around we want to know which unreleased prototype would you most like to own? Be sure to let us know by voting today! The next thing I'll mention is regarding our news archives. I went through and gathered up all of our old news stories from our first site at JP3 HQ and then later at Geocities for placement with our current archives. It was really fun looking back at some of the old headlines like our first "JP3 Hasbro Toys Are On Their Way" to "CamoXtreme Chaos" and the whole Tapejara controversy. Fun times indeed. So take a trip down memory lane when you get a chance, I really think you'll enjoy it.
It's finally here, one of the sections you've been waiting for. We've managed to get a hold of several Kenner toy catalogs featuring various Jurassic Park toys. After some painstaking labor - scanning, formatting, and indexing - we are proud to release over 100 images for your enjoyment.
Visit this new section and check it out!
Toy Bliss.com is inviting everyone to take part in their Spring Break special by offering free shipping on all standard ground orders. Just enter the code SR7RHADM to take advantage. They have plenty of JP3 merchandise still available (including CamoXtreme) and even a couple of items from the Jurassic Park: Dinosaurs line!
Dinosaur_Neill sends word that his petition has full support from composer Stephan Shutze but that it might take at least 10,000 signatures to be effective. That's not out of the realm of possibility but it's going to take a heck of a lot more than they have now! So make sure to sign the petition if you haven't done so already. Stephan also sent word that the Gamecube version planned for OG has been scrapped to concentrate on other projects at this time.
Hope you all had a great weekend. We have a lot to get to today so let's get started, shall we? It's been a long time coming but today we are proud to give you yet another JPToys Database release - the Chaos Effect toy line. Also be sure to check out our new database template which includes links to other important items of interest like price guide listings, instructions, reviews and sounds. Again, we apologize for the wait time between releases but we plan on releasing them much quicker from now on so make sure stay tuned for those!
Also today we have even more reviews to pass along highlighted by part 2 of forum member Buzz Spendus take on the Operation Genesis game for PS2. Make sure to check that out. We also have new reviews from Dimetrodon of the JP BDT, Capture Copter, Net Trapper and the JP3 Wal-Mart Exclusive set. You can check all of those out it our Toy Database today.
The folks over at Jurassic Island posted a very interesting but unconfirmed article today on JP4's production. If true, it looks as if Hasbro may have had a 10th anniversary toy line planned all along. Here's that blurb along with a tid bit on what to expect with the JP4 toy line:
"With JPIV, we can expect lots of merchandise including, action figures. Although it seems only natural that Hasbro (who designed the JPIII line for 2001) would take the wheel, but the toy company who had planned to release a special Jurassic Park 10 year toyline and than dropped it has dropped the JP license for the time, perhaps meaning that a new toy company will take over."
So there you have it. Other than the mention of what could've been a 10th anniversary line, it's also interesting to note the mention of "lots of merchandise including, action figures" for JP4. That's not to say I wasn't expecting a JP4 toy line but with Hasbro's past of dropping the JP license (not to mention entire production lines) - anything's possible. Once again though, this article has not been confirmed so you'll probably want to take it with a grain of salt.
So, has everyone gotten their hands on a Canyon T-Rex by now? At the rate they have been showing up lately, it wouldn't surprise me! I'm actually taking off today to begin my hunt - wish me luck! Anyway, lets get to those new reviews shall we? First up, Jax_Cham879 chimes in with his thoughts on the JP:D Dimetrodon and the JP3 Tapejara. Also submitting a review today is dilophoraptor of TLW Ian Malcom. Please keep in mind that we're always looking for new reviews. If you have one that you would like to submit, please be sure to contact us and send it along!
Right off the bat I have to mention that I was finally able to secure my first Canyon Rex at KB last weekend for $12.99! I've heard many other similar finds over the last two weeks so don't give up hope if you haven't found one yet. Well for those of you still "Canyon-less" we have our first three reviews of it from stitch, Takutanuva and Kevin to tide you over. And finally today we wanted to let everyone know that the canyon rex has been adjusted in the price guide to reflect a more current market value of $30-40 MIP. It's hard to believe it went for $655 at one time! So be sure to check all that out and for everyone in the states - have a great holiday weekend!
Granted it's been a long time coming but we've finally managed to open up a section for members to show off their massive JP toy collections! We kick off that section today with galleries from AcroIguana, Armothe, CarnotaurusX, Jurassic_Park_HP and TrikeAttack. Please keep in mind that these pages are very picture intensive so things may take a while to load. To view the galleries and find out how to get your gallery listed, please visit our collections section today!
As of yesterday, the JPToys forum officially went pop-up free! We of course all hope this is a permanent fix but the Proboards staff does want to remind everyone that they can't promise we'll never see pop-ups again in the future. So keep your fingers crossed!
In other site news, we have two additions to our new collections section from Rick Raptor and DinosaurNeill. Also today we have four new reviews from Takutanuva of TLW Peter Ludlow, Roland Tembo, trike hatchling and the JPS2 Ian Malcom. Rick Raptor checks in with his thoughts on the JPS1 Velociraptor and the JP3 animatronic Spinosaurus and Carnotaurs has a take on the JP3 Stalking raptor. While in the review section, you may notice that we've done some much needed re-organization. We hope this makes finding your favorite review a little less tedious. Thanks to everyone for those great submissions...enjoy!
There's been some discussion on our forum recently about 2 possible new JPD2 repaints. Forum member "yankeetrex" came across them at his local KB store and had this to say:
"I was at the Freehold Raceway mall today for the sports card collectible show, i stopped off in KB toys and to my surprise there were 2 new repaints of JP Dino's. One was the JP3 Deluxe Rex in black with red stripes, and the other was the Alpha Pteradon(Sorry for spelling) in a greenish color and the beak was a semi baby blue color."
Unable to take any pictures to this point, forum moderator Stitch contacted that same KB store for more details:
"KB Toys: "Thanks for calling KBs where you can save half off on all orange sticker items, can I help you?"
Stitch: "Yes, do you have any Jurassic Park toys?"
KB Toys: "Uhm, I believe we do. Yes, we have quite a few."
Stitch: "Ok, do you have a black dinosaur with red striping patterns?"
KB Toys: "Well, there's alot, like 12 different kinds. So if you wanna come in and take a look."
Stitch: "Well, I'm in Seattle."
KB Toys: "Oh... Ok, hold on a second, I'll check for you."
*leaves for a bit longer then the last person I spoke with*
*returns*
KB Toys: "Yes, we have a black Tyrannosaur with Red stripes. It looks like he has a cut in his side where he got bit or something. And then we have the flying one. Pteranodon. It's in like two shades of green with a blue head. They're both $14.99 and they make noise."
*hears distinct Alpha Ptera screeching over phone*
He went on to explain they came in about 2 weeks ago. He was given the sku number from the packages- 850396
So, these are indeed the real thing. He was told there were pictures on the back of the package of other dinosaurs in the line, but I don't know if they're new ones or the same JPD2 figures that came out a year ago."
With this confirmation, we'll hopefully be able to post pictures soon. In the meantime, be sure to follow this thread on the forum for all the latest details.
The LONG awaited upgrade to PBV4 (Proboards Version 4) is finally upon us! Patrick & his fine staff will make the upgrade to our forum sometime within the next 24 hours. During the upgrade the forum could be down anywhere from 12-24 hours so just a little heads up. Tons of exciting new features promises to make this the best upgrade yet. If you've never joined our forum in the past, please take the time to do so. Sign up is quick & painless and well worth it. In other news, we have a new diorama gallery from 'Gizmo' to pass along.
I guess the reports of our demise may have been a bit pre-mature. For those that aren't aware, we did have plans to take the site down because of serveral factors which I won't bore you with here. Since that announcement my inbox has been flooded with emails from individuals & sites willing to do all they can to keep us afloat. I must say, it's been a truly humbling experience. I want to personally thank all of you that wrote in.
Now, a little FYI. With all that's going on right now don't be surprised to see the site down for a week or so until we get things straightened out. We'll try our best to bring the site back up as quickly as possible. Until then, be sure to continue checking our forum (not affected) on a daily basis for all site related updates.
A giant THANK YOU on behalf of those who have selflessly provided donations to JPToys.com. These donations have already eased the burden of website costs as well as assisted in purchasing a few hard to find Jurassic Park toy dealer catalogs (see next story)! Clicking on the Spinosaurus/PayPal icon to the left will now take you to a splash Donations page containing further information on how your donations are used. This page also contains instructions on how to donate using cash or personal check- as well as using a credit card through PayPal. Again, we truly appreciate your support!
Take a glimpse of what Kenner distributors saw prior to the toys being on the shelves. Joining our ever increasing Catalog Scan section are the 1997 Kenner Toy Fair Distributors Catalog and the 1997 Distributors Brochure. Most of the items from the catalog are pretty self explanatory, but I've never seen some of the items featured in the brochure. Have a look and see for yourself in our Catalogs section!
Forum member Jurassic_Jaws recently inquired to Hasbro about the Young T-Rex and Stego repaints that popped up on eBay recently (see 8/24 story). Here was their response:
"These items are from our Jurassic Park line and are sold exclusively at KayBee Toy and Hobby stores. Please visit your local KayBee Toy store or visit their web site at http://www.kbkids.com to check for availability."
This is the most concrete response we've received yet but as we all know, Hasbro customer reps don't always have the same stories. Only time will tell so be sure to stay tuned. Speaking of JP:D 2, we finally have our first reviews of the new series in. They were submitted by Rob6027 & Jurassic_Jaws. Both reviews take a look at the Cyclops Raptor repaint. Also while in the review section, you may notice that we've now moved all of the reviews over to our server from the old Geocities site. Yes indeed, the last connection we had to JPTC is now gone...*sniff*
In our continuing effort to keep you informed on the JP:D 2 line, site contributor Mr. Goodbytes received the following response from a Hasbro rep when inquiring about the "missing" 2 large dinos:
This does contradict other responses we've received from Hasbro (see 8/29 update) about the missing 2 so I guess we'll have to take a wait and see approach to this news. We'll let you know as soon as something more concrete comes along. In other news today, we have a new custom gallery from smyles that features a Carnage Triceratops repaint.
All of us here at JPToys just wanted to take the time to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and of course a happy & prosperous new year. I personally want to thank each & everyone of you loyal readers out there that continue to make us the most trusted site for JP toys news & reviews. You guys & gals are the best.
We don't have much to pass along today other than a new poll question and a new review of the JPS1 Tim Murphy from first time reviewer Robert. BTW, our last poll results were probably the closest we've ever had here. The question was "Would you be in favor of more JPD2 repaints?". Close to 300 people responded and 42% wanted something new (no more repaints), 40% wanted something new no matter what it was and 18% were undecided. So in short, the majority of JP toy fans what something new - no more repaints! Are you listening Hasbro? I doubt it but you can't say we didn't try to tell ya! On that note, we'll see ya next year!

After the Jurassic Park: Redemption and the Devils in the Desert comic book lines by IDW, the publisher has been working on yet another story. Forum member robotpo found the cover of the new Jurassic Park graphic novel Dangerous Games in the making. It will have a very different story than the previous two IDW Jurassic Park comic lines.
It is eleven years after the events of the Jurassic Park movies and CIA agent Daniel Espinoza is working undercover to infiltrate infamously brutal Nicaraguan drug lord Gabriel Cazares' drug ring. Cazares and his henchmen have taken over Isla Nubar and converted the main facility into a walled fortress and pleasure palace in the center of a primeval jungle filled with savage monsters. When his deep cover is blown, Espinoza finds himself lost and alone on the dangerous island, hunted by both armed thugs and prehistoric monstrosities. And there's someone else watching him, too - a mysterious figure in the shadows who could be Espinoza's only hope for survival... or the bringer of his ultimate doom!
Will this new story be the one fans have been waiting for? We will know, in three months!

Thanks to forum member Ichtyosaur, who took the effort of taking pictures of the Toy Hunter episode that featured Jurassic Park prototypes, we now have pictures of the prototypes shown. Many members have been asking JPToys for this, since not everyone was able to see the episode. We want to invite everyone to visit this thread, to see what awesome prototypes have been revealed. And yes, it does include the notorious TLWS2 Triceratops, TWICE.
Also, don't forget to post positive comments on Travel Channel's Facebook page, as well as their Twitter account. The more positive feedback they get, the more they are encouraged to continue with what they are doing (and thus we might see more JP toy gems in the future).
