NEW JURASSIC PARK SIDESHOW STATUE... KIND OF...

Well, Sideshow Collectibles won't stop surprising us, apparently. Too bad it's a rather bitter surprise here. This company, which recently revealed the first item in its Dinosauria line, didn't seem to be JP-inclined anymore, but still, they revealed a "new" statue based on the Jurassic Park franchise: the T-Rex Versus Velociraptors : Faux Bronze edition, a simple repaint of the T-Rex Versus Velociraptors statue recently released...

Yes, a repaint. This dreaded habit we hoped we'd never see again... And to add to the disappointment, this "Faux-bronze" edition is $299.99, which is $50 more than the painted edition. Yes, less paint, but more expensive. But here's the catch: this edition is limited to 50 pieces worldwide, which makes it the rarest released Jurassic Park piece of merchandising ever (well, as far as I remember). Is it worth the extra price? Apparently, it was for 50 people... :)

So, feel free to take a look at this new statue's page, and to comment about it in our forums!

NEW JP TOYLINE PLANNED FOR JUNE 2009?

Very interesting, yet unconfirmed, news from long-time forum member Jaymz, from the UK. Here's the scoop:

Being bored today I scanned through the computer database at work and stumbled upon some interesting Jurassic Park toy info.

All information on the screen indicates (To me at least) that they're new, well... It's Hasbro so I'm guessing JP/// repaints again, but they come up as 2009 GLOBAL EXCLUSIVE.

Because I'm kind, I'm gonna give you guys all the info the computer gave me.

*Jurassic Park Deluxe Electronic T Rex

UPC - 5010994454319

1 In Packet

Β£59.99

Yes, thats Β£59.99 for a T Rex figure and it comes one per box, this thing is gonna be huge!

And forum member Dutchallosaur dug a bit, and added this juicy bit of info:

I called the German Toys 'R' Us Head Office, it turns out they WILL arrive in all German stores. The woman on the phone estimated they'll arrive in JUNE this year. And she saw all 4 things in her system!

Of course, we'll keep you updated as more info (or pictures) are available. So, stay tuned, guys! :)

JURASSIC PARK DINO BATTLERS : FIRST PICTURES!

So, it's finally confirmed. We have a new Jurassic Park toy line to drool over! Steve, ActionFigs.com Editor-In-Chief, recently got his hands over two publicity shots, both loose and packaged of the first Dino Battlers two-pack: Triceratops vs. Tyrannosaurus Rex. You can see both pictures over here: http://www.actionfigs.com/index.php?categoryid=61&p2_articleid=3023.

So, yes, they're indeed JP3 toys repaints, but we've got to admit that the new packaging is definitely striking, and much better than the last JP: Dinosaurs lines. It's very clear that Hasbro has put some time over this new line, so let's hope the rest won't disappoint!

JURASSIC PARK DINO BATTLERS LINE DELAYED!

Well, we're now in June, and still no sight of the new Dino Battlers line. Another unreleased line? Not really. Forum member Dutchallosaur contacted several TRU's in Europe, and she got some interesting information:

I called tons of TRU's in all of Europe and the US too, and tons of Hasbro's in Europa and the one in the US.

What did I find out: there are at least a dozen of new figures to be released. So not 4, at LEAST a dozen. When will they be released? The SECOND WEEK OF AUGUST. Strange enough NO Hasbro's in Europe have them in their database, but the American one has (unfortunately no pictures, I asked them). As of TRU's, as far as I know they will be released in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and obviously the US.

And best of all: the German women said she saw an Electronic T-Rex in her database with figureS. We haven't seen that before have we? That might explain the price! Stay tuned, I’ll call the French TRU back in a minute for more info.

And after contacting the French TRU manager, she got a juicy bit of information: the name of some of the dinosaurs featured in the line!

Ok, I have some more information. According to the manager, the following products are to be released:

*Triceratops

*Spinosaurus

*Electronic Dilophosaurus

*T-Rex

He didn't see the large T-Rex in his database yet, but he told me they rarely have anything in their database more than a month before release. He also saw a loose action figure called Patron PT (wtf?). It is possible I didn't write that one down correctly, he talked French with a REALLY big accent, it was very hard for me to understand him. I had him spell that name 4 times for me, so I think I come very close to the real name now. -=EDIT=- Neelis stated that the Patron figure might be a Pteranodon. Because the French guy had a hard time pronouncing it, there's a good chance Neelis is right.

Price range was from $7 - $17, which was not put in Euro's yet.

Unfortunately, he had no pictures in his database, so I couldn't obtain any. I also tried to had him describe some figures, but as he had no pics, he couldn't.

Judging from the figures, I can say for certain it will be a JPIII repaint series again. Note: these are not all the figures, only the ones in his database. So there are more to be released anyway. Only, he couldn't tell me how many.

So, a huge thanks goes to Dutchallosaur for taking so much of her time to give us all these news! :)

JURASSIC PARK 2K9 PICTURES, AND LOTS OF THEM!

As you know, the new Jurassic Park toyline has been delayed, and will only be released in August. So, what's the best way to kill time? To drool over new pictures! The good folks over at Actionfigs.com got their hands over several pictures of the four Dino Battlers packs, and two of the new Dino Trackers human/dinosaur set, and were kind enough to let us know about them. Make sure to take a look at their website to see these new sets in all their high-definition glory!

By the way, this brings an interesting point. Considering the "Dino Battlers" name is only used for the small two-packs, and not for the whole toy line, how could we name it? For the time being, we'll settle for Jurassic Park 2K9, but feel free to share any idea you might have on the forums. Also, the set we saw a picture of a month ago, the T-Rex/Trike one, seems to have been slightly repainted (yup, both sets share the same assortment number, so unless it's a variation...). For the better or worse, you decide!

IT'S RAINING JURASSIC PARK 2K9 PICTURES!

Wow, we only have the time to post the news about these new JP2K9 pictures that the folks over at Actionfigs.com added several new ones on their website! So, we now know what the two other Dino Trackers sets look like, and also can lay our eyes upon the new electronic JP3 repaints: the Battle Growlers! So, make sure to take a look at Actionfigs.com to have a full-quality look at these brand new zany JP toys!

CONGRATULATIONS, MA'AM, IT'S A NEW T-REX!

Finally, a picture of what is supposed to be the last JP2K9 toy we were still waiting to see was released, over at Toyark.com (a big thanks goes to ChaosGhostHunter for letting us know). Most people expected the rumored new Electronic T-Rex to be yet another mere repaint of good ol' JP3 Ultra T-Rex, but boy were we wrong! This new Rex appears to be a retooled version of the enormous Bull T-Rex from the Lost World line, without the "open-belly" feature, but with poseable legs! Now, that's a huge surprise! And the cherry on the cake, the paintjob is very reminiscent of the infamous unreleased Gulper T-Rex. Nice tip of the hat from the designer here! So, kudos to Hasbro for this daring move! :)

NEW PAPO DINO, VARIATIONS, AND... JURASSIC PARK 2K10?!

Yup, you read it right: Jurassic Park 2K10. Of course, for the time being, these are only rumors, but still, from what we know, 2010 is shaping up to be a great (if expensive) year for Jurassic Park figures collectors! Here's the juicy bit: a few days ago, a reliable source revealed that there are few new sculpts that have been worked on for the next JP toy line, which should be released in 2010. Yes, new sculpts! Of course, for privacy reasons, he couldn't reveal which dinosaurs are going to appear in this new line, but he could still tell us that the line isn't just repaints and the new sculpts will be VERY easy to spot amidst the many repainted older figures, or that there will be plenty of new dino figures as well as (much improved) new humans, but that although the new figures are vastly superior to what has come out in the past, they could still be more accurate. And to the questions about the presence of new vehicles: "However I can answer this question, though I don't want to give away too much. Let just say it is a full line of toys- everything you would expect from a Hasbro boy's toy line. ;) ". Excited yet? I know I am. :)

In other news, we recently could settle the brown/orange T-Rex debate about the JP2K9 Trike/T-Rex 2-pack. It is indeed a true variation, and not just a prototype/released figure matter. Both versions can be found in the US and in Europe, so, variation hunters, you know what to do. ;)

And, finally, much to everyone's surprise, it appears that Papo released a new dinosaur: the Oviraptor. It was found by forum member Macularius on a french website called Eveil Et Jeux. Forum moderator Dutchallosaur took her chance, ordered one, and recently received it. A picture of it can be found on this toy's new page. Enjoy! :)

Oviraptor

A GOOD WAY TO LAUNCH 2010!

Is there a best way to start a new year than with new Papo figures? Forum member Macularius recently discovered over at Dan's Dinosaurs two pictures of what appear to be a "new" Velociraptor, as well as a Plesiosaurus from Papo. So, yup, looks like we're going to have a grand total four new Paposaurs to add to our collection for 2010! Even though it's a bit disappointing to see that this Velociraptor is just a repaint of the one released in 2005, we have to admit that this new paint job is interesting indeed, as well as very similar to the Velociraptors' colors in Jurassic Park 3. No release date is known for the time being.

JURASSIC WORLD FIRST HASBRO FIGURES REVEALED!

Hey folks! It's been a while since our last update, but trust us, this one is huge. We are pleased to present you the first pictures of the Jurassic World toy line, by Hasbro! Still, a little disclaimer first.

These images were not leaked from any internal sources from or related to Hasbro or any of its affiliates. All content was shared with us from public sources. We support Universal completely and would not leak anything that was confidential intentionally and we support the film maker's wishes as well! This is why you'll see some items blurred out in these pictures. When they will be publicly shown at Toy Fair, for example, we will make sure to share them with you. But meanwhile, you don't want to spoil yourself too much, right?

Also, it's important to know that these are only preproduction items, and therefore are bound to change or be upgraded by Hasbro before their release. So, true, some of them look rather crude, but we should wait until pictures of the final products are released before jumping to conclusions.

First, here's the latest listing of what we know should be released in this line, along with their planned prices (always good to know how much we're all going to have to save up in order to get these goodies). Note that the items in bold are the ones we currently have pictures of. So yup, there's still a lot that is to be revealed:

Jurassic World Mega Strike T-Rex - B2875 - $34.99
Jurassic World β€œBad Boy” Indominus Rex - B1276- $34.99
Jurassic World T. rex- B0537 - $29.99

Bashers & Biters Spinosaurus

So, as you can see, there is a lot planned, way more than for the JP3 line, for example. And yup, after years of waiting, an adult Ankylosaurus, a Ceratosaurus, and more important, no repaints from the previous JP lines! A big thanks goes to our members ChrisLikesDinos and AnonymousContributor for managing to dig up all these juicy infos! Of course, that's only a partial reveal, but there's a lot more waiting! Indeed, we're in for a treat this year! And in the name of the whole JPToys staff, I wish you a (late) Happy New Year! Stay tuned!

NEW PICTURES, AND MORE!

Hey folks! It's been a while, but in the JP/JW toy collecting world, a lot happened! Since last update, TV spots and trailer for Jurassic World were released, toys and exclusives were discovered, and yup, the first JW figures are starting to see the shelves all over the world! So, indeed, there's a lot of controversy about the quality (or lack of, in some cases) of this new line, but hey, after years of drought, it's great to see new life being injected in our little collecting world! And meanwhile, here at JPToys, we're currently working under wraps in order to add news JW sections, as well as a few other surprises. So, sorry for the lack of updates, but it's for the best, as they say!

For today's news, though, we have a few interesting pictures to show you! First, Hasbro revealed the first repaints of the JW line, and... let's say that the colors are surprising (imagine if they had shown that on April 1st?). The new Stegoceratops is okay, but that Rex looks like Mountain Dew bottles were the only beverage available in its paddock. Thankfully, the packaged versions of the Ceratosaurus and the new Dilo make up for that. Enjoy!

So, stay tuned for our future updates! You won't be disappointed!

New repaints section, and rumors about the future!

Hey folks! Today, we present you our new section, the dinosaur Repaints section! Ever wondered how many times some figures have been repainted? Want to compare the repaints to the original? Head over to our new section and see pictures of every repaint released so far. Always interesting to see how a different paintjob can change a figure. A huge "Thank you" goes to old-time forum member Stitch for taking the time to take all these pics for you to enjoy!

Also, as you may know, the last Jurassic World figures have recently been released, putting an end to this line. But what's next, you may ask? Well, nothing concrete yet, but several rumors are mentioning a 2016 line called "Jurassic World Hybrids" (no, nothing to do with the infamous JP Dinosaurs Hybrids line released many years ago). So far, nothing is known about this new line, but considering the big success of this years's line, it's no wonder Hasbro wants to continue to surf on the Jurassic World wave. We'll see if it's a good or a bad thing! ;)

So, enjoy this new section, and stay tuned for more info as soon as we uncover it!

Listing of the Jurassic World Hybrid line revealed!

Hey folks! Remember our last news about the probable future of the JP line? Well, the cat is out of the bag, with the reveal of Jurassic World Hybrid's line listing! This was revealed by forum member and store superviser Miller23time, who found in his store's UCP list what we can expect for next year (which was later confirmed by our staff member Chrislikesdinos). It is unknown if this list is complete or if more items will be revealed, but until then, here we go! :)

Pictures of the first Dino Hybrid figure!

Hey folks! What's the best way to start 2016? By discovering what the new Jurassic World Hybrid (or Dino Hybrid, according to the packaging) line will look like, of course! Thanks to ChrisLikesDinos, we have our first look at the Hybrid FX T-Rex, a retool of last year's Chomping Rex, packing a few new tricks: along with the chomping attack, this figure now has roaring sounds, and, as you can see, huge spikes sprouting out of its back, not unlike Chaos Effect's Amargospinus, all for (reportedly) the same price than the original toy. Like it? Hate it? At least, Hasbro didn't stop at a mere repaint and went the extra mile to retool this figure. We'll see what the rest of the line will look like, especially with recently uncovered figures like the Pteraminus, which have been added to the list below. Enjoy! :)

Full checklist of Mattel's new line!

Hey folks! What a crazy week-end, heh? And it's not over yet! After the reveal of Mattel's awesome new line, here's a much needed checklist of everything known or rumored to be released this year. This list focuses on Mattel's 3"3/4 offerings, and thus doesn't include their other lines like Matchbox, Imaginext, or miscellaneous items and sub-lines. But trust us, with over one hundred items planned, there's more than enough here to feast your eyes upon. ;) Each figure or set includes its planned release wave (W1 being mid-april, W2 = summer and W3 = fall) and production number. Of course, since many of these figures are only rumored, this list may end up being slightly incorrect, but the vast majority of it shouldn't be. We also included pictures of what was currently shown, included boxed shots when available. Credits goes to Jurassic Outpost's very own Chris Pugh, Toyark, and La Boutique Du Dinosaure for their great pictures! Also, for those interested, here is a .doc version of this checklist. So, here's everything known so far. We'll keep updating this checklist with info and pictures as they become available, so stay tuned! :)

Mattel: First pictures of the 2019 line-up leaked!

Hey folks! If you thought 2018 was already hurting your wallet too much, well, 2019 is shaping up to be no different. As you can see below, the first pictures from Mattel's line-up for next year have been revealed on 4chan, and what can be seen is rather...interesting. We can see several items from a new "Savage Strike" line, including a Dimetrodon (from the 2018 Destructasaurs line, which is still unreleased to this day), brand new Tapejara and Styracosaurus (a species long overdue) figures, as well as repacks and retools from the 2018 line.

Also revealed were two figures from a "Dual Action" line: a Stegosaurus repaint/retool with rather funky colors, and what appears to be a Therizinosaurus with a great body, and a totally inaccurate head sculpt (unless it's a Therizi/Raptor hybrid, of course).

And finally, a new big T-Rex was shown, with what appears to be a thrashing tail action feature. Hope you still have some space after the four (six if you count the Battle Damage versions) big Rexes released this year!

So, there you have it for now! Of course, these are preliminary versions of what we'll see next year (to give you an idea of how different released items can be, take a look at these Roarivores early prototypes from this year's line), so expect some changes! We will of course keep you updated as more is revealed, so stay tuned! :)

2020's line checklist!

Hey folks! Our friends at Jurassic Outpost, as well as Collect Jurassic, managed to uncover many pictures of Mattel's 2020 line-up, which will bear the name Primal Attack. So, it's time for a new checklist to help you keep track of next year's offerings. As always, we will keep updated this list when more items and pictures will be uncovered, but meanwhile, feel free to feast on these great new toys (along with a few repaints and repacks)! :) Oh yeah, and if you haven't already, don't forget to check out the new short film Battle At Big Rock, available on Youtube. It's just awesome. ;)

JP3 ELECTRONIC GAMES SHOWING UP

"Neo_the1" sent Dan over at Dan's JP3 page word that he spotted some JP3 merchandise in New York City this weekend. Here's some of what he had to say: Tiger "Rex Head" LCD game (where the jaws close slowly depending on how you do in the game), and the three other "mini action games" where you're a spino, rex, or pteranodon. In addition, there was a JP3 flashlight, apparently the same as the TLW flashlight, "but with a repaint and a new pacakge to match JP3. It [has] 2 buttons, one to turn on, the other to make roaring noises."

RAPTOR ATTACK PLAYSET Q&A

My buddy Dan came through once again with a response from Hasbro regarding the new toys. Since I pretty much agree with Dan's response to what Hasbro had to say, I'll just let it speak for itself. Here's his e-mail with Hasbro's respnose in yellow: Interesting news today. While reading some posts on the IngenNET boards, I read a guy who had a theory that maybe there were more playsets coming out, and that the Raptor Attack playset was connectable to some other ones. I decided to check it out. I asked if there were more, and why the Raptor Playset is made up of old repaints. Here's their reply: "Thank you for contacting us. That is the only playset scheduled at this time. The repaints were done in order to keep the cost down. We appreciate your interest. Lois Consumer Affairs Department" I dunno about you, but I'm kinda mad at this. First, do they really expect collectors of JP merchandise to not know that the playset is made of repaints? And "to keep the cost down?" Why, so they can charge $50 for more fence pieces in the cynical hope that people will buy the same stuff twice? Maybe Hasbro doesn't realize it, but I for one would be willing to pay $50 for something new and cool, like the TLW Electronic Trailer. However, I refuse to pay that much for something I could dig out of my closet FOR FREE. I plan to write a letter of protest to Hasbro. This is completely stupid. The figure resizing I can take (and I can even like), but this response was too much.

NEW REVIEWS FROM DAN J.!

Hot off the presses are these two reviews from our buddy Dan J. featuring the Tapejara and the Pack Raptor. Here's his reviews:

TAPEJARA

It's a bird!!! It's a plane!!! It's a JP3 Ptera with a new color scheme!!! NO!!! It's...TAPEJARA!!!! (Sorry, couldn't resist :-) ) I had seen pictures of this toy and was fully ready to hate it. And when I bought it from Toysrus.com, I was already dreaming up an excessively negative review on it, saying how it was a cheap repaint, how the colors gave me flashbacks to those POS known as JP:CE toys, and how in all my diaromas it would be the dead and broken carcass providing food for all my other dinosaurs. Then I got it in the mail, and got a suprise. This is a really nice toy. First off: I would consider this more of a resculpt than a repaint, since the top of the head, wings and feet are different. The head and body are still pretty much the same, but that's ok. I really like the new sculpts, particularly how Hasbro actually sculpted a crest on the Ptera head, instead of being cheap and gluing one on. It looks nicer. I also like the little chunks missing from the wings of the Tapejara. It gave it sort of a realistic (sort of) touch. The colors blended a lot better than I expected, with the yellows and greens coming together real nicely. Look at the wings in particular, on the bottom, there is a nice green-to-white fade, and on the tops, there appears to be some sort of metallic paint that gives it a real nice shiny look. Are there any flaws? Of course. They used the same sounds from the JP3 Ptera on this. They did the same thing with the Pack Raptor, too, but that didn't bother me as much there, because they were the same species. Since the Ptera and Tapejara weren't the same, a different sound would have been nice. Also, forget about having it stand on it's feet: They aren't sculpted that way. Finally, the Hasbro toy people managed to bless the Tapejara with loose ball joints, just like it's predecessor. Overall: I did not believe Tapejara existed. And I did not believe that I would like it. But it does. And I do. 3.8/5

PACK RAPTOR

Some of you who have read my Alpha Velociraptor review on action-figure.com may remember me calling it "the DEFINITIVE raptor toy." Well, I lied. The wonderful Pack Raptor is in almost every way superior to the Alpha Velociraptor. For starters, it can actually move its jaw. That alone kicks it up for me. Also, the neck sculpt is designed a bit better, so that it can actually look at it's human prey. Call me crazy, but I like the color scheme here. It looks funky, but I think it works. It gives it a nice predator vibe. What would have made me give this toy an automatic 5, though, would have been to have it colored like one of the blue raptors in the movie. As I said before, the sounds are the same as that of the Alpha V, which brings me to an interesting point. Both the Tapejara and Pack Raptor have noises that can be triggered by a bone button. But since that is the only bone seen in the wound, it looks a bit out of place. It would have been better to have just colored it red like the rest of it. Now, I said that the Pack Raptor was superior in almost every way to the Alpha V. But that one can stand. The Pack Raptor has too much head and too little tail, which causes it to capsize forward unless supported, or unless you pose it so that one foot is flat and the other is resting on the corner of its heel. Also, the bottom jaw mysteriously juts out past the nose of the thing. Why? Overall: A big improvement over the Alpha V. It still has some bugs, but from now on, this will be the one attracting the attentions of my lovely

AMAZON.COM TWO PACKS

Have you wondered recently about those Hasbro two packs listed on Amazon.com's website? Well our good friend Dan J. decided to do a little investigating on his own. Here's his e-mail to Hasbro and then their respnose: Hello Hasbro Consumer Affairs Associate, While on Amazon.com I found three listings for dinosaur sets that include 2 dinosaurs per set: Spinosaurus/Pteranadon, T-Rex/Dilophosaurus, Raptor/Triceratops. Are these continuations of the Jurassic Park 3 line? Will they be repaints, or all new figures? Also, will there be any more Jurassic Park 3 humans/dinos/playsets, and if so, what will they be? I would truly like to know. Please write back (no form letters please) soon, and I look forward to your response. Sincerely, -Dan Suggested Answer --------------------------------------------------------------- At 10/03/2001 11:35 AM we wrote - Thank you for contacting us. There have been repaints and some new items. We do not have information available on what will be in the 2002 line. Lois Consumer Affairs Department Thanks to Dan for looking in to this and we'll be sure to pass along any other details as they become available.

NEW INFO. ON HASBRO'S JP TOY SITE & MORE!

Dan J. comes through for us again! Here's an e-mail he sent my way in which he asked Hasbro about any current plans they have for the fall releases of their JP/// toys. Also, check after this reply for information on Hasbro's new toy site. Well, after I got three form letters back from Hasbro trying to shoo me off, I got a little fed up. My letter and response is below: Hello Hasbro Consumer Affairs Associate, Thank you for your prompt last letter. However, I would still like to know what I asked. I have tried your website numerous times, and gotten nothing. The Jurassic Park 3 website is not up yet, to my knowledge. I was told in a letter that I could check back in the fall for more information on what you are releasing (I was told that you have over 25 of my letters on file, so you probably have that one). It's a pretty safe bet that you have releases finalized, since the big holiday shopping season is coming up and you want to have product availible to consumers. And I know that other lines, such as your Star Wars: POTJ line, have already been announced and release dates through Febuary 2002 have been finalized and made public in various magazines. All I am asking is what products you have planned or are releasing for Jurassic Park 3 through January/Febuary 2002. Specifically, I would like to know if you have any plans of releasing a Udesky, Nash, Cooper, or Ben figure, or if you are making playsets based on the Aviary or a Kirby Charter Plane Playset, because the Raptor Attack Playset was a miserable repaint, and I won't buy it, cause I could just dig the old pieces from my old JP Visitor's Center Playset and make that up for free. I just want to know what you are releasing from now through January/Febuary 2002 for the Jurassic Park 3 line. Looking forward to your response and NO form letters please, "At 10/18/2001 07:42 AM we wrote - Thank you for contacting us. There will be some 2 packs of the dinosaurs tentatively scheduled for release November of 2001. We have no more information on any other future products in this product line yet. There are no current plans to make the figures and playsets that you have mentioned in your e-mail. We appreciate your interest. Kelly Hasbro, Inc. Consumer Affairs Representative"

Huh...Well, I now think that the only way to see any of these figures might be through a petition. I dunno...are other people the way I am about this? (I would really like a Udesky and Nash figure, and a Kirby Plane). If I only knew how to put one together... Well, thought you might like to know. Have a great day!!! Very interesting to say the least. In other news, Dan also passed along that the Hasbro rep's told him that they hope to have their highly anticipated toy site up by the end of this month! Thanks to Dan for sending that my way and we'll keep you informed more as this situation develops.

A CLOSER LOOK AT "SERIES 2"

Since Saturday most of us have had some time to collect our thoughts on "Series 2". Could we have a new series on our hands or could this just be a bunch of re-paints from wave one & two? Theses are some of the many questions being pondered right now so I thought it would be fun to post some member reactions from our forums. Here's some of what's being said: Posted by Mr_Goodbytes: "Not all of them will be repaints. I bet it will be like JP series 2 was. Some repaints and a lot of cool new ones. Also, the 2 packs won't all be repaints. There are 4 Spinosaurs and 2 Rexs listed, but there were only 2 Spinos and 1 Rex." Posted by BlueWillow: I hate to say it, but I have this feeling we're all going to be majorly dissappointed.

So as you can see the opinions are pretty much split down the middle right now. Some people think this is nothing but a bunch of re-paints while others think it may be a mixture of both. We shall see but I just wanted to put it out here and let you get a feeling as to what other collectors are thinking. Remember to keep checking back for updates because we'll post any new information as quickly as possible.

JP3 "CAMOXTREME" PICS UP!

I'm not really sure if this is a new series or just another line of JP toys but nonetheless, Hasbro has finally updated the JP3 section of their site with pictures of this series/line! The new pictures include: Artic Spino/Stego (2 pack), Desert Spino/Raptor (2 pack), Swamp Spino/T-rex (2 pack), Volcanic T-Rex/Raptor (2 pack) and my personal favorite so far, the Ultra Canyon T-Rex. Don't get too excited though, because it looks as if all of them will be repaints. I do think they did a great job on some of the paint jobs while others (like the Desert Raptor) just look plain hideous! There is a bit of good news though, if you look closely at the pics you'll notice that we once again have collector cards with our JP toys! Kudos to Hasbro for that. You can check out all of the new pictures in our JP3 section or head on over to the JP3 section at Hasbro.com and check them out for yourselves. Hasbro still has about 4 more pictures to show us so stay tuned to JPTC and we'll keep you updated as more pictures/info. becomes available. (Thanks to everyone for the heads up!)

CAMOXTREME...CANCELLED??

Thanks to our eagle eyed forum member, Mr_Goodbytes for pointing out that the new CamoXtreme pictures have been completely removed from Hasbro's website. Does this mean that they have decided to do away with the line all together? Well, I for one surely hope not but I know there are those of you out there that would take this as great news. Stay tuned to JPTC for all the latest details. *Update*- Mr_Goodbytes did a little more checking into this for us and here's what he found out: "Thank you for contacting us. There are no end dates on the product line at this time but there is no announced product for 2002. We will know more after February" Notice it says After February, the U.S. Toy Fair is in February. So, maybe they are waiting until they see how well the toys are recieved at Toy Fair. This means that we could possibly have more repaints, and new molds!!! This whole thing just keeps getting stranger and stranger. Mr_Goodbytes couldn't be more right, this is a very strange situation. Either way it looks like we may have a while to wait until we see any new JP toys.

NEW POLL QUESTION

Thanks to the over 90 people that voted in our last poll in which we asked your thoughts/opinions on the new CamoXtreme line. The response from everyone was pretty much in favor of with 41% claiming they're the best repaints yet and %26 saying they're o.k. The new poll question still involves CamoXtreme but this time we want to know which 2-pack you're most looking forward to owning. Please vote and let your opinions be heard!

NO CAMOXTREME AT TOY FAIR?

It looks like there wasn't any mention of the new line at this year's toy fair that according to a Hasbro press release. Although not all hope is lost as AcroIguana reminds us that "CamoXtreme is a rather small line with nothing but repaints, so it isn't all that major, since JP3 isn't even the "in" movie anymore amongst the general public. To the best of my knowledge, JPD wasn't put in the toy fair, and that was a bigger line then CamoXtreme." Stay tuned for more updates. (Thanks Mr_Goodbytes)

JP ANNIVERSIARY REPAINTS COMING!

Wow, did this ever take me by surprise! After many months of petitions it looks like Kenner & Hasbro have finally decided to listen to the consumers! From what I know, the line is already in production and should be out sometime later this fall. The line will carry all of our old favorites including the Carnotaurs & Gallimimus...click here for more details! (April fools! ;-) )

LICENSE UPDATE & NEW JP3 PROTOS

We've certainly had our fair share of JP merchandise liscense updates over the last year or so, almost all confusing to say the least. Well forum member 'crex' (who also happens to be Chris - see 10/2 story below) recently had one of his staffers inquire directly to the Star Wars team at Hasbro to get some sort of definitive answer on just what is really going on. Here's what he had to say:

"Since the summer the Star Wars team @ Hasbro has been allowing the SW Collecting sites to submit 3 questions each week. So after a few weeks of doing this, I decided to see if they would bite on a JP question. Turns out they still have the license and do plan on future releases BUT they are repaint exclusives to KB. Now obviously, the findings at KB months ago support that.

If the license ran out, someone would pick it up and announce it. And the exclusive thing has been following Hasbros MO lately with the repaints. There has been plenty of repaints with Star Wars and thats a license thats a year removed from a movie year, 6 months before the 30th anniversary build up and the upcoming TV shows. A license like JP wouldnt make fiscal sense to invest money for new product when no significant news is out there in terms of movie announcements and they can still get some return from JP with small scale repaints."

A big thanks to Chris again for that update. So in short, we can expect more repaints down the road until JP4 rolls around. I'm sure that's what most expected anyway but hopefully this report can serve to clear matters up just a bit. Also worth noting today is a set of JP3 prototypes that recently surfaced on ebay and were purchased by forum moderator Raptoralpha. He was kind enough to take several new pics along with descriptions which can all be found in this thread on our forum.

JPD3 DELUXE DINO PICS!

First off, we here at JPtoys.com want to send our thoughts & prayers to those in New Orleans, Mississippi and Alabama that had there lives literally ripped apart by hurricane Katrina. The amount of devistation is simply astonishing. Many people are wanting to help out and probably the best thing you could do is to donate what you can to the American Red Cross. By clicking on the link it will take you to a page where you can donate anywhere from $10-$500. Ten bucks may not sound like much but at this point, every little bit helps.

The big toy news today comes from forum moderator Stitch who was able to track down these new Deluxe Dinos for us at a KB store:

Other than the hideous micro dinos (tric doesn't look too bad), these deluxe versions are definitely top notch repaints. So be on the look-out for them soon at a toy store near you!
(9/6 - UPDATE) - Thanks to 'DemonCarnotaur' for the back shot!

MICRO-DINO PICS!

In an update to yesterday's story, 'robotassassin' and 'spinosaur122' were kind enough to pass along pics of all the new JPD3 micro-dino 2-packs:

Overall I'm just not too impressed. Repaints are one thing but excluding the Triceratops (only because it's a new mold), these new micro dinos are just plain uninspiring and hideous. The days of "well at least we're getting something new" are long over IMO. They were even careless enough to label the Stegosaurus a "Spinosaurus" on the front of the Raptor/Stego box (unless of course it's an error). They probably thought we'd never notice huh? Silly JP toy fans. Hasbro should be ashamed, we as JP fans deserve more!

SITE BITES

We have just a few site updates to pass along today. First off, "Bucketfoot-Al" continues to add to his already impressive custom gallery with a Horizon T-Rex repaint submission. Next up, I wanted to update the progress on our toy databases. As I'm sure you've noticed by now, it's been well over a month since our last release. We just wanted to assure everyone that progress is still being made and our goal is very much intact. You should see the next release very soon. We also have a new feature to add to some of our existing databases that we think everyone will really enjoy, look for that in the coming days. Last thing I wanted to mention today. We have some site modification plans in store for the coming weeks, most of which will make the site much eaiser to navigate around. Keep it tuned here for further updates.

CUSTOM BULL REX MASTERPIECE!

This was just too awesome to not pass along! Using oils, the artists over at Skinwerks.com took a TLW Bull T-Rex and repainted it over a two week period to match its Jurassic Park movie counterpart. To say that this is the absolute best custom job I've ever seen would be a huge understatement. The attention to detail is just astounding and as you will see, the end results are truly amazing! Be sure to check it out when you get a chance. (Thanks Ultra_T-Rex)

NEW BOOTLEGS & CUSTOMS ADDED

We received a very interesting (hideous) picture from "Josh" recently of a bootleg set from the "Scientific Wonders" line. The set includes a mixture of JP3 humans, small dinos and 3-4 miscellaneous weapons. This particular set includes an Eric Kirby repaint, Amanda Kirby Spino (somewhat repainted) and an Alan Grant 2 pack raptor. Other sets were made so please drop us a line if you happen to spot any. Also today, we have a new custom gallery from Joe that includes three very nice customs, two of which come from the resaurus line...enjoy!

NEW CUSTOMS & COLLECTIONS

So, how did everyone's weekend go? Hope all was well. We have a few site updates to pass along today so lets get started. First up, we have 2 new entries to our ever growing collections section from ViperRider and Raptoryx. Also today, Joe drops in with 3 new customs featuring an Albino Raptor, Iguana Raptor & a TLW Chasmosaurus repaint. And finally today, we have a new poll up for your voting pleasure...enjoy!

NEW DIORAMAS, COLLECTION & POLL

Jumping right into things, we have 2 new diorama galleries from 'dilo2' and 'Chuckles'. There's over 40 new dioramas between them so be sure to check those out. We aslo have a new Collection gallery from 'Mr. Pilkington' to pass along. And finally today we have a new poll question up concerning your thoughts on the 2 new JPD3 repaints.

NEW JPD3 PICS!

In another JPtoys.com exclusive, we are proud to give you your first look at the 2 new JPD3 repaints courtesy of forum member "JPobsessed"...enjoy!

JPobsessed mentioned that each deluxe figure was $14.97. Based on the back of the box, it looks like we'll have much more to collect in the coming weeks/months. For sure we see 3 new regular dinos - T-Rex w/micro Triceratops, Velociraptor w/micro Pteranodon and a Triceratops w/micro velociraptor. We also see at least 3 new 2-packs, with a 4th listed (Pteranodon & Compy) but not shown. We'll be sure to bring you more details as they become available so stay tuned here to JPtoys.com for all the latest!

NEW JPD3!

There's been some discussion on our forum recently about 2 possible new JPD2 repaints. Forum member "yankeetrex" came across them at his local KB store and had this to say:

"I was at the Freehold Raceway mall today for the sports card collectible show, i stopped off in KB toys and to my surprise there were 2 new repaints of JP Dino's. One was the JP3 Deluxe Rex in black with red stripes, and the other was the Alpha Pteradon(Sorry for spelling) in a greenish color and the beak was a semi baby blue color."

Unable to take any pictures to this point, forum moderator Stitch contacted that same KB store for more details:

"KB Toys: "Thanks for calling KBs where you can save half off on all orange sticker items, can I help you?"

Stitch: "Yes, do you have any Jurassic Park toys?"

KB Toys: "Uhm, I believe we do. Yes, we have quite a few."

Stitch: "Ok, do you have a black dinosaur with red striping patterns?"

KB Toys: "Well, there's alot, like 12 different kinds. So if you wanna come in and take a look."

Stitch: "Well, I'm in Seattle."

KB Toys: "Oh... Ok, hold on a second, I'll check for you." *leaves for a bit longer then the last person I spoke with* *returns* KB Toys: "Yes, we have a black Tyrannosaur with Red stripes. It looks like he has a cut in his side where he got bit or something. And then we have the flying one. Pteranodon. It's in like two shades of green with a blue head. They're both $14.99 and they make noise." *hears distinct Alpha Ptera screeching over phone*

He went on to explain they came in about 2 weeks ago. He was given the sku number from the packages- 850396
So, these are indeed the real thing. He was told there were pictures on the back of the package of other dinosaurs in the line, but I don't know if they're new ones or the same JPD2 figures that came out a year ago."

With this confirmation, we'll hopefully be able to post pictures soon. In the meantime, be sure to follow this thread on the forum for all the latest details.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hard to believe we're already in a new year huh? They get faster and faster it seems. It's also hard to believe we're beginning our 5th year coverage here...wow...where does the time go? Anyway, we certainly wish everyone out there the best in '05 and hope you continue to trust us as your #1 source for JP toy news & information.

Onto the site update, we have a 2 new customs from our good pal Vlad (Bucketfoot-Al). They include a repainted Galaxy Pteranodon as well as what he's calling his masterpiece, an 18 inch Sega Torosaurus.

NEW CUSTOMS ADDED

Bucketfoot-Al continues cranking out customs at a record pace here lately as evidenced by the latest additions to his gallery. They include a Safari Galaxy Triceratops, Tanyia Chasmosaurus & Brachiosaurus. This should tide us over until his anticipated Horizon Brachio. In other custom news, have you seen the latest over at Big Razzie's? She's posted a few new ones (all JP series 1) from 'Amber' that include a repainted Alan Grant into John Hammond (complete with cane), and a very colorful Pteranodon hatchling & Velociraptor. Be sure to check those out when you get a chance. Last but certainly not least today, we have a new poll up for your voting pleasure.

NEW BOOTLEG FOUND

Forum member 'Permian-Triassic Fan' came across a new JP3 Ankylosaurus bootleg recently at his local Dollar Store. The package comes complete with a smaller repainted version of the JP3 Triceratops and repaint of TLW Eddie Carr Triceratops hatchling. Check it out in our bootlegs section today!

MORE JP:D 2?

Fourm member Raptor88 came across 2 very interesting eBay auctions today. The first is a repaint of the original Young Rex and comes with the JP3 Military General. The second auction contains a very sweet TLW/JPD Stegosaurus repaint along with the JP3 Alan Grant. Could these be the long rumored other JP:D 2 "big" dinos we've heard so much about? We're not sure at this point but stay tuned to this space for more details as we receive them.

MORE JP:D 2 - UPDATE!

Forum member Jurassic_Jaws recently inquired to Hasbro about the Young T-Rex and Stego repaints that popped up on eBay recently (see 8/24 story). Here was their response:

"These items are from our Jurassic Park line and are sold exclusively at KayBee Toy and Hobby stores. Please visit your local KayBee Toy store or visit their web site at http://www.kbkids.com to check for availability."

This is the most concrete response we've received yet but as we all know, Hasbro customer reps don't always have the same stories. Only time will tell so be sure to stay tuned. Speaking of JP:D 2, we finally have our first reviews of the new series in. They were submitted by Rob6027 & Jurassic_Jaws. Both reviews take a look at the Cyclops Raptor repaint. Also while in the review section, you may notice that we've now moved all of the reviews over to our server from the old Geocities site. Yes indeed, the last connection we had to JPTC is now gone...*sniff* ;)

MISSING JP:D 2 IDENTIFIED?

In our continuing effort to keep you informed on the JP:D 2 line, site contributor Mr. Goodbytes received the following response from a Hasbro rep when inquiring about the "missing" 2 large dinos:

These are the ones we have listed:

#29469 Pteranodon
#29468 Tyrannosaurs
#29443 Dimetrodam w/Military Diver
#29442 Triceratops w/Dino Wrangler
#29440 Tyrannosaurus w/Dino Tracker

This does contradict other responses we've received from Hasbro (see 8/29 update) about the missing 2 so I guess we'll have to take a wait and see approach to this news. We'll let you know as soon as something more concrete comes along. In other news today, we have a new custom gallery from smyles that features a Carnage Triceratops repaint.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

All of us here at JPToys just wanted to take the time to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and of course a happy & prosperous new year. I personally want to thank each & everyone of you loyal readers out there that continue to make us the most trusted site for JP toys news & reviews. You guys & gals are the best.

We don't have much to pass along today other than a new poll question and a new review of the JPS1 Tim Murphy from first time reviewer Robert. BTW, our last poll results were probably the closest we've ever had here. The question was "Would you be in favor of more JPD2 repaints?". Close to 300 people responded and 42% wanted something new (no more repaints), 40% wanted something new no matter what it was and 18% were undecided. So in short, the majority of JP toy fans what something new - no more repaints! Are you listening Hasbro? I doubt it but you can't say we didn't try to tell ya! On that note, we'll see ya next year!

SPIELBERG AND UNIVERSAL ARE TALKING ABOUT JPIV!

Various movie websites, including comingsoon.net and hollywoodreporter.com recently revealed some very interesting news: Spielberg and Universal are talking about JPIV! Moreover, both parties have confirmed it.

Both Universal, which released the trilogy, and Spielberg's camp stress that no one has been engaged to write a script and that the discussions have been purely exploratory.

This distinguishes the news from all previous rumors of JPIV. This time it's confirmed! And while it's not yet beyond exploratory discussions, it gives hope that the JP fans may finally get what they have been waiting for: a worthy new movie in the series. And a new movie, also means new toys. And please, Hasbro: no repaints this time.

Stay tuned for more updates!

MYSTERIOUS 'PROTOTYPE' SURFACES!

An interesting discovery was made by staff member Trike123. Whilst surfing the internet he came across an advertisement for The Lost World finger puppets. To his surprise, he noticed that this ad had some prototypes, and that one of these was of a so far unknown figure!

The vehicle appears to be a JP series 2 Capture Cruiser, and the figure in the bottom left corner is a repaint of JP series 2 'Harpoon' Harisson, but the figure on the right hasn't appeared in any JP series! It is unclear whether this figure belongs to JP series 2, or was intended for TLW, (or JP in general) as the ad appears to be made specifically for TLW, with the baby T-Rex and the colours for the Parasaurolophus and Velociraptor, but the action figures being Jurassic Park series 2.

Feel free to join the discussion on the forum!

PAPO'S YEAR OF T-REXES... AND A BRACHIOSAURUS.

Every year Papo releases more sculpts, and every year we hope for even better sculpts than last time. This year, fortune smiles upon us! We get a T-Rex in a running pose (did someone mention V-Rex?), a repaint of the first Papo Rex (suits the Rex in the first movie, right?), and a hatchling in both green and brown. While the running T-Rex's catalog shot clearly shows it to be green, a brown version has already surfaced.

And that's not all. Papo listened carefully to the fans and finally made a very cool Brachiosaurus! Let's hope it's BIG. And of course, in earlier news Papo also comes with a Tylosaurus. Credit goes to Raptor86, lucidstillness and DemonCarnotaur for letting us know!

For larger pictures, please visit our Papo section!

New reviews added to the site!

Once again, our moderator and official toy reviewer Roselaar wrote a lot of new reviews. This time for JP:Dinosaurs 2, JP:Dinosaurs 3 and JP2009. Have you wondered whether or not you should collect these lines? And what makes that JP2009 Bull T-Rex so different from his TLW counterpart? It's not just the additional points of articulation... So if you are interested or wondering if you should buy a figure, enjoy reading the reviews on the toy pages. Many thanks goes to Roselaar for all the time he put into this work... and we understand that reviewing a million repainted versions of the same figures can be daunting ;). (Thank you Hasbro, for your inability to release something new... at the very least you bored our reviewer, lol.)

JP:3D TOYS ARE COMING!

So the rumors are true: we are getting toys for JP:3D this year! Forum member DemonCarnotaur was able to find the first few articles as they are in the system of Toys "R" Us:

Dino battler 297221 $7.99
Dino tracker 272188 $10.99
Growler 295277 $19.99
Battle pack 295334 $29.99

So far no pictures, but the names remind us of the JP2009 toy line. Although a lot of dedicated fans were hoping for more toys, the news was also received with understandable skepticism, since the majority of the fans has a very poor opinion of the toys first released for JP3 and repainted a million times afterward. The main question now is: 'Are we getting repaints AGAIN?' Only time will tell. It's also unclear if the toys will be Toys "R" Us exclusives again. Stay tuned for more news!

NEW JP:3D LINE WILL HAVE NEW SCULPTS!

Thank God, our prayers were answered. We do get (some) new sculpts for the first time in many years. So far it seems that the unreleased JP2011 Allosaurus and JP2011 Pachyrhinosaurus will actually be released! The rest of the line will likely contain of repaints, although there is a rumor it would also include the unreleased JP2011 A.W.E. Strikers.

Unfortunately, not all the news was good. The line seems to be Toys "R" Us only, as well as USA and Canada only. Good news for all the fans living there, bad news for the fans living abroad. Stay tuned for more news!
