Review

By Carcharodontosaurus: This figure has been spotted on the back of packages for The Lost World puppets, produced by Resaurus. They promoted their puppets with the use of Jurassic Park series 2 toys, and not The Lost World series 1 toys as one would expect. Even more perculiar was this unknown figure on several catalog shots, showing along with an early prototype (or just a painted released version) of "Harpoon" Harrison and a damaged and incomplete Capture Cruiser. This mystery figure sported several different paintjobs in the different catalog shots too. Because of the use of other JPS2 figures, and of the possibility that the "Harpoon" Harrison figure is also a prototype, this led to speculation that this figure might be an unreleased and previously unknown Jurassic Park series 2 prototype. After careful examination of the figure, it was later identified as Daniel Jackson from the 1994 Stargate toy line by Hasbro Inc. To this day, it's still unclear if this figure had indeed been planned for JPS2 and was later released in the Stargate line (much like how several JPS2 vehicles, including the Capture Cruiser, got re-released for the 1995 Congo line by Kenner).

Points of interest

- This figure was on catalog shots meant for The Lost World, but the other figures on the picture are Jurassic Park series 2.
- Other prototype catalog shots always came from the manufacturer itself (Kenner or Hasbro), but these came from a different company: Resaurus.
- Apart from these catalog shots, no other reference to this figure being from Jurassic Park has been found.
- The use of JPS2 action figures in these shots could be a hint that these pictures are done in a very early stage, when no TLWS1 figures were available yet.
- It is unclear why this figure has three different appearances on the catalog shots: once normal, twice with a green torso and dark hair, and once with a yellow torso and dark hair).
- Coincidentally, the figure that solved this mystery was purchased in a lot of only Jurassic Park figures.
- Cross-over use of sculpts for several different lines is not uncommon, JPS2 vehicles were re-released for the Congo line and the TLWS1 Ajay figure originates from the Congo line.
