Review

By 0thebigwytec5: This maquette was created by Stan Winston Studios as a model to scale up and build the full size female T-Rex in the original 1993 Jurassic Park film. Kenner teased many toy collectors, by featuring an image of a painted maquette on the cardbacks of the JPS1 Humans and Dinosaurs. The image of the maquette was not used in any of the 1993 catalogs. Instead an image of the classic Red Rex is used as seen here. The image of the maquette was also not used on the box backs of the Deluxe Real Feel Skin Dinos; again the Red Rex image was used. This maquette unfortunately was never intended as a toy and it was just used as a stand in.

Points of interest

- The only place to find the maquette image is on the card backs of the humans and dinosaurs from the JPS1 line.
- Only 1 maquette test shot is known to exist.
- The Horizon model company produced a vinyl model kit that is an exact replica of this maquette and is highly sought after by collectors.
- To this day, it is unsure why Kenner decided to tease so many collectors by placing the maquette image on the packaging.
